Sabre VS Fury

OBIO

Retired SOH Admin
With Bub doing some new skins for the Fox Four Sabre, I decided I needed to dig up what work I had done on the plane and found that I had a repaint template about half done for the plane. Getting it finished off. Then I went looking for some interesting schemes to do the plane up in....and came across some very sharp F3J Fury pics. Unfortunately, the only Fury I have is the old old Alpha Sim one....the one with modeled on drop tanks and odd animation sequences. I got to thinking about doing the Fox Four Sabre up as a Fury.

What are the key differences between the Sabre and the Fury, other than the folding wings and tail hook on the Fury? And the fact that the Fury has 20 mil canon instead of 50 cal machine guns?

Taller front landing gear assembly for carrier deck ops, which also contributed to greater static pitch "on the deck", longer main gear struts and a beefier tailplane assembly. The 20mm armament also dictated a slightly wider fuselage at the nose, extended to the forward midsection.

Supposing I go ahead and do the Fox Four Sabre as a Fury, how many rivet counters would kill over from the inaccuracies? Not having a decent Fury for CFS2 is a shame.

JF3 Fury

Obio,

Eric Hinson converted the the CFS 2 version of Olsson's F-86 to an FJ3 Fury. I don't know if it would pass a rivet counter's inspection, but it's a pretty sweet ride for CFS 2. My only issue with it is the mirror immage of the US insignia on the right wing.

You have to have the Hinson-Olsson F-86 CFS 2 files already installed for it to work.

The down side is that it is a bit heavy on the frames albiet still usable. The Fox 4 F-86 is in reality the best F-86 for frame rates.
