Saddened by sick behaviour

This sort of behaviour makes me sick as well as saddens me.
I have been the victim of taunts and abuse since my accident ten years ago, but when it is aimed at a bomb disposal engineer who had both legs and part of an arm blown off while looking for IED's in Afghanistan, a blast that killed the rest of his mates, it makes my blood boil. The article says he steped on a bomb, but the news said he was looking for IED's

I am humbled by the attitude of the guy and his family.

Maybe we should send the louts out to Afghanistan, and let them go clear the IED's!

It is very sad indeed what this nation has become.
 
Its become typical of British youth I'm afraid.They seem to care about nothing but themselves .But with a government that does the same i cant see this trend changing in the near future.Not until we bring back corporal punishment,police with power to police,and conscription
( Or maybe a few ex military vigilante groups. )
 
We Vietnam vets went through a lot of that crap. One of my buddies lost his legs and when he discharged out of Walter Reed I went to escort him home as his mother could not get off work. There were some cruel comments at the airport and at a local mall(shopping center). He was called a "baby-killer" at the university he attended by one of his professors and some radical students. He never flinched and never gave up. He is a successful business man today. Fortunately our attitude toward our soldiers has changed here in our country for the better by most. I hope it stays that way. These young men and women are heroes.

I admire this young man's courage and determination. I wish him and his family Godspeed.

just yesterday here in auburn california we had a young man who was killed in afganistan on the 29 i believe it was..or they lost 29 men...something like that....anyway..they brought his body into McClellan ex afb and brought him up I80 to SR49 in auburn to a local church..once the procession hit SR49 the route was lined with people holding american flags...was very cool...

Yes, Henry, they were correct - just like mine were. And, as you say, it is an international problem.



Not exactly a "universal" problem because we all know the Vulcan kids are pretty straight arrows. . .

Really? The new Star Trek movie had some Vulcan kids behaving rather nastily toward young Spock, just because he was half Vulcan. Bi racial, er, bi-species...

Bigotry knows no boundaries whatever...

Of course, one of the primary reasons why the Vulcans invest so heavily in supressing the emotions is that they are -at heart- an extremely volitile and violent race!
 
A brave young man,is there any way we can send him our support and thoughts? That would be just the thing to lift his spirit if we could.Anyone across the pond who can look into this,it would be appreciated.

I only had two idiots calling me a murderer so far and both of 'em were gone before I could even declare them my personal live bullet catcher in case of WW3.

Sapper Mathew Weston's mother was being polite when she describe the abusive youths as being 'boisterous', what was actually said was, “Haven’t you forgotten something? Oh yeah, your legs.”
In a second verbal attack, Sapper Weston was waiting to be served in a fish and chip shop when another coward sneered: “If you didn’t want to be blown up, don’t go to war”. He was abused near Selly Oak hospital in Birmingham, where injured British troops are treated when they are returned to the UK

I will have a look for you safn1949. I know the local newspaper in his home town had a comments section on their web page, but there was too much anger directed to the offenders and not so much support for the Mathew.

Check back in this post in a day or so.

By the way, it is not just this lad who has been subjected to abuse because he is injured. Many disabled suffer this treatment on a daily basis, I know, I am one of them, as are all of the disabled people I have met since my accident 10 years ago.
