Tuesday we start our Voyage to Tahiti. It usually takes 10 to 12 days to sail there. Looking at the computer weather we should have smooth sailing for at least the first 7 days, hopefully for the whole trip. If any storms do appear we can track them and steer clear. With the new radar we can track ships and planes up to 100 miles away,the other radar had a 75 mile radius.

I have a great and experienced crew of 8 and we sail 24/7. 2 memebers are alway on watch and do 4 hour shifts.That is except for me,I do the night shift.

Have a great summer guys and we will be back in September.I still will have internet connection so will still be able to visit SOH.

question talon if i may impose ..... are you not concerned or at least do you have pretection based on the global...gangs hijacking boats, pirates ....etc....

knowing al id be more worried for the safety of the hijaker/pirates lol still hopeing to get a deck hand postion one of these summers tho

We are well armed and everyone has had weapons training.Eyes are always on the radar. We take no chances.

I had a runnin with hijackers in 2003.I fired 1 warning shot which they ignored.The next 3 shots I hit their boat. They got the message and left. My fourth shot would have been to hit someone.
 
Gee, Al with a boat that size, you could use a nice 50-cal! That way you could stitch their boat just above the waterline.

I'm still on the hard! Had to fix a leaking fuel tank, and chase down a ground leak which turned out to be in the stereo of all places!!! We'll get there.
