Sailplanes

I don't fly gliders too much, but when I do, it is either the Pirat or the Aerosoft Glider. The Aerosoft package has both a powered glider and normal ones which is really nice.

Aerosoft's new Andras Airfield is a great place to soar from. With a bit of pre-planning you can make your way to the alps to the south. The Aerosoft Discus is perfect for this if you run out of altitude or thermals, as you can start up your motor until you get to the ridges. CumulusX is a must.

Furthermore, contrary to what the developers of HiFi may say, ASA or any iteration of their engines does not produce sufficient ridge lift for gliding purposes. As a matter of fact, I have as of yet not found a single area where ridge lift even works as advertised.... I digress.

Give it a try. I flew from Andras to Innsbruck last night running the ridges the whole way. WHAT A BLAST!

DillinghamX is a nice glider field addon for Hawaii. There is usually good ridge lift along the mountains. The Aerosoft Discus is a great addition.

Yes, Aerosofts Dillingham and Discus with CumulusX is very nice, great for some soaring! Had the luck to win 2 freebies, so I got those!

And as said before, the Pirat is very nice, too! Excellent freeware!

And Falcon409´s EDST Hahnweide is a very nice rendition of the place where the Schempp-Hirth Gliders, Discus, Nimbus etc. where built for a long time.

Don't forget David Rowberry's models - Genesis 2 sailplane, Horten IV sailplane, SB13 sailplane, Airborne C4 Hang Glider, A-I-R Atos VR hang glider, BrightStar Swift hang glider, Aeriane Swift'Light light sailplane and Aeriane Swift'Light PAS light sailplane.

Some of the best freeware models for FS soaring -can be found at most large download sites.

The default DG808 is awful -you'll find a much better updated version at http://www.virtualsoaring.org

Aerosoft have a Schempp-Hirth Nimbus 4 (26.4 m 60:1 + - look at Andras gliding field screenshots on there forum) in the pipeline and a Dimona motor glider, and the aerobatic Discus K! Wish they'd do some Schleicher gliders though -they are better looking! I.E. asg 29, asw22ble
