salt_air's Wighteous Western Wound up begins

Leg 10 KCYN - KGCN

More fun in the highlands with a (hopefully) nice ride down to the Grand Canyon.

Looks like there may be some valley runs along the path of two rivers and then then there's always Bullfrog Basin for some low passes ... I hope.

Leg 11 KGCN - KLAS

Well okay then .... I look around this Grand place and it is awesome, but I'm gonna be a lot happier spending the night in Vegas.

That's short for Las Vegas Willy ... not to be confused with the plural of a small car the was made by Chevrolet back in the 70's. :mixedsmi:

Taxiing to RWY 21 for takeoff to McCarren.

Leg 12 KLAS - L06

Headed up to Furnace Creek .... oh, wait is that down ... oh well over to Furnace Creek.

WHOOPS! Leg 10 Re-Fly KNCY - KPGA

Brought to my attention by a good friend and colleague ... or I would have just continued like Mr. Magoo as if nothing ever happened...

I neglected to land at the airport at Lake Powell .... Page Municipal (KPGA).

For now and until I hear different from .... you know who, sssshh ... I'll go back to Moab Canyonlands (KNCY) and refly the leg I flew into Grand Canyon National Park (KGCN).

This time making a full stop landing at Page (KPGA) ... thennnn I can go to the airport at the Grand Canyon (KGCN) and surgically insert the data into the fine spreadsheet WR 2013.

Leaving Moab for Lake Powell

New Leg 11 KPGA - KGCN

Second adjustment to fix.

Woulda been so easy to do it right the first time ....

Let's go to the Grand Canyon :wiggle: again :wiggle:

Recap of the mishap

I suppose for me as much as anyone else ... I'll summarize these last few posts and some of the foolishness that inattention can bring on.

I missed the airport at Page in the low course and didn't wake up (or was awoken) until a few airports later.

My original flight out of Moab (KCNY) had me landing at Grand Canyon National Park (KGCN) ignorantly bypassing a required stop at Page (KPGA).

Subsequently I went back to Moab and reflew to the Grand Canyon ... this time including a full stop landing at Page.

Soooo instead of this Leg number being one number higher it's two ... to add in the extra leg created by adding the extra stop (to the foo-pa) at Page.

I don't know ... reading this crap ... maybe I should have left it alone ... possibly easier to understand on one's own.

Yeah. right, so we'll be leaving Death Valley shortly on what will now be Leg 14 instead of Leg 13.

Humble apologies to any and all who read this and thanks to the finder of the mishap for bringing it to my attention in a civilized and very respectful PM.

Leg 14 L06 - O24

Whew! ... let's get back to work.

Out of Death Valley for the crawl up to Mono Lake

Nice flight ... plenty to see, but not too distracting.

You'll have to pay attention while keeping it under 10000', but it ain't too tuff if you don't try to stick to one heading (direct).

Picked up the VOR at Coaldale 117.70 and flying straight to it kept me out of trouble with the terrain, but it took me a bit off a straight line to Lee Vining.

Second I picked up the 38nm VOR at Bishop 109.60 to bring me back to the direct course line.

Great scenery along the way ...
