San Diego Terrain Mesh

I fly around San Diego a lot in both FS2004 and FSX. I'd like to get a terrain mesh add-on that does justice to the actual elevations of Point Loma west of NAS North Island. If not just the San Diego area a mesh add-on for the SoCal area in general would be great. Any recommendations?

Try nosing around over at Cal Classics. :wiggle:
I'm pretty sure Mr. Gibson knows which files you'll want.
My SD scenery features North Island and the sub base at Pt. Loma.
I installed it years ago, I can dive into my downloads if you'd think it would help.
If you just want land class, try https://simviation.com/1/fs2004terrainmesh
You'll want to download and install "NA38". That covers from LA down to SD. :congratulatory:
Just be sure to right-click the NA38 link and "save as". The site is OK but there's some goofy hyper link stuff going on. :indecisiveness:

Sbob, thanks for the reply and I will check out the Simviation link. Also, I'd be interested in what scenery you have used for NAS North Island and the Pt. Loma sub base, North Island in particular.

I would not recommend a lower resolution 70m mesh for flying anywhere around USA, when a freeware higher resolution 38m mesh by esteemed Justin Tyme, is available for free @ flightsim f/l:

San Diego scenery enhancements:
https://www.flightsim.com/files/file/102583-fs2004-san-diego-vfr-scenery/ (needs Ultimate Terrain USA installed)
https://www.flightsim.com/files/file/111663-fs2004-scenery-north-island-nas/ (by renowned John Stinstrom, do look into his other releases in around the United States and Europe)
https://www.flightsim.com/files/file/82316-fs2004-n6dur-san-diego-scenery-v11/ (has Point Loma enhancement, compatible with default)
https://www.flightsim.com/files/file/88588-fs2004-scenery-san-diego-naval-station/ (compatible with default)

To clarify Sbob, landclass is not available at that simviation link, only the mesh DEM files are. One's best bet for appropriate freeware and perhaps most up-to-date landclass for the United States, if flying in FS2004, is actually found in your Golden Wings Install; Golden Wings Parts 1-3, are available from the Old Hangar (TOH) Archive, made available here at SOH. Said landclass file was an updated revision of Justin Tyme's pre-release FSGenesis US Landclass Project, by the famed Lynn & Bill Lyons, and said updated landclass file was deemed more accurate and compatible for contemporary/modern-day pilots than even Justin Tyme's pre-release version! Accordingly, highly recommended!

Cheers!

Wolfebee, thanks for the additional info and links. John Stinstrom's NAS North Island scenery package got the Pt. Loma terrain elevations up to what looks OK to me, which was my original project. :encouragement:
