Saturn to shut its doors after all

Now it's official...GM does not make a car that I would own....and that is the first time in my 40 years on this earth that I can honestly say that. What a shame.

OBIO

Well thats grim...

Sorry to hear this. I was hoping Penske would get it and turn it back into its huge success that it was in the past, and perhaps bring back the electric coupe as well.

Funny to see gm cutting loose the things that made it so great.

Bill

Bill,...I couldn't agree with you more. Roger Penske,...being the consummate businessman if there ever was one,....saw something he didn't like. Ahhhh-h-h,...like no supply guarantee by GM after the manufacturing contract ran out,...pushed himself away from the table.
First Olds,...then Pontiac,...now Saturn. The kicker being that the tax payers take it on the chin (again) through the federal bailout. Makes one wonder how many millions of the package went down the drain that was tied to Saturn.....

Saturn is absolutely pathetic. They had this coming. They caused it. I'd even go so far as to say they deserve it.

They used to be a company that offered cars that everyone could afford. Sort of like the American Kia. When I started high school, so many students drove Saturns because they were affordable and dependable. Slowly they changed their market and lost customers. This is a classic example of poor decisions and greed annihilating a company.

What were they thinking!?

Actually,
Saturn's "downfall" didn't occur until GM began to stick more of their hands into Saturns business around 1996 or so....

Still, I don't see it as being a coincidence that when they changed the focus of their products, their company really started struggling.
