    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politician will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment among members. It is a poison to the community. We appreciate compliance with the rules.

saving layouts

oh man i forgot how to save a layout on mission builder. can someone enlighten me.

Over the years I have made many layout files, so many in fact, that I've forgotten what many of the do or are for. As a result, when I save a layout now, I place it in a Layout folder in my library with a screen shot of it as well as a quick readme file. In addition to the readme file, you can open the .lay file with wordpad and then you'll have a list of all the items in it for future use in a different installation.

While these shots show ships in them, I usually don't save the Layout file with ships or aeroplanes. That way the layouts are usable from theater to theater.
 
I save ships and other highly mobile or easily moved obects in Layouts only for creating missions. When I'm doing GSL I leave them out.
