Dog1,

Maskrider wrote a tutorial on building airfields. It is well worth the read and it should be here in the library under Maskrider.

Also, once you have fsdsV3.x, be sure to contact Abacus about procuring FSDSv2.24 as it is the lattest version to support CFS2.

If you're going to get Flight Simulator Scenery Creator (and I would recommend you do if you want to build airfields), don't use thet link that miamieagle posted above. It is an old outdated version. Get it straight from their website: http://www.fssc.avsim.net/.

airfields

besides the fsds on order what other software would be highly recommended specially for the airfields texture file.I have mastered well FSSC for airfields but their forum is closed and it does'nt create a separate texture file to fit below the polygon, please correct if i'm wrong.I have registered with freeflightdesign as well whome i hope will help me specially in the early stages since i am totally green but willing to give all the energy needed to learn to improve this sim which obviously can still go very far.

If you want to do blended edge scenery, it would help to have a paint program that can handle layers, there is a free one, gimp or Pixia or something or other, maybe someone else remembers?

Layers would help create the alpha channel, as you would have them as part of the same file and beable to overlay them with some transparency to check for fit, etc.

I use Pixia to do mine and it does a nice job and is free.

i have psp9,pixia is just as good,i have read carefully the maskrider tutorial uploaded here by jagdflieger and i have contacted him for the picture capturing tool needed as well as some questions relating to the tutorial.the questions are:
How do you load a texture file into fssc before placing the runway?
How do you upload the airfield and polygon into psp?
