Scenery/infrastructure auto package installers?

After all these years.. I just wondered. Has anyone maintained and compiled any scenery packages with the last recommended file versions? (Rhumbafloppy, Maskrider, infrastructures.. )? Just to make it a little easier to set up CFS2 from scratch.

And then..what about f.ex. Rami's campaigns? Any autoinstallers? (Like the old RAAF campaign by Alsina/Amodea)

Morton,

While you still need the LOD mesh layers for maximum results, the auto-installers you asked about do install between 95 and 98% of what you need for any campaign set that has them. All aircraft have their panels, sounds, and weapons so you don't have to hunt them down, and all ships are included as well, aside from anything that Lindsay Watt or Tango Romeo a hand in designing.

Since you mentioned the 75th RAAF campaign, that has been included as part of this campaign package.

Note: It is highly recommended that you NOT install the new Rhumba watermasks, because they will wreck havoc on airfields near the coast. Only a few specific airfields are designed to work with these new watermasks; the scenery you're installing is not among them.
 
Thanks Rami for the prescriptions :untroubled:. I used the CFS2 only sporadic in the last years so I'm not sure of the status of my installation. So this comes in very handy.

To make it clear.. the different campaigns from SOH/your Box all will install most of the things needed like Maskriders bases, GSL's etc.? (except the LOD mesh/ PacTex)
Does it mean the campaign installers will just overwrite a lot of the already installed common scenery and bases everytime?

1) Yes.

2) Yes, they are designed to be installed in a stand-alone install. However, if you install them to a folder on your desktop, you can integrate them into an existing install. The 75th Squadron and Papua New Guinea campaigns, for example, share almost identical scenery, because the latter is almost an extension of the other.

One of the things to keep in mind is that I use aircraft with specific theatre-themed skins, as well as ships, so you have to watch that a/c and ship count.

RAmi, a stupid question maybe, but after the campaign autointstallers I presume I have to add the new Scenery library areas and also enable the GSL's ?

By the way...in the "beta" folder on my box.net site, there is a brand-new campaign set on the Battle of France and the Low Countries, (10 May - 25 May) which is waiting for the Free Flight Site transfer to be completed. All aircraft are included, including a multitude of skins. I also used some of your panels.

There are a few missions I've had to tweak after putting together these auto-installers, but otherwise it will be a great way to re-immerse yourself. 338 missions should keep you busy well into the winter!

Ramis's PTO guide states:

The new Dutch East Indies airfields by Maskrider are designed around Rhumba’s new mesh and Pactex ver.1 These are the first strips made exclusively to fit this.
Pactex will greatly enhance the DEI scenery.

At the time this document is written, Gavinc, a member of sim-outhouse forums is in the process of relocating the stock CFS2 airstrips to fit within Rhumba’s new mesh. It’s a large task! Thanks Gavinc. Check the forums for updates.
What's the status on this?

Xavier also has made some exceptional airstrips for the China, Burma, and Japan. Ninety eight percent of them fit well into the new mesh. Find a list of his downloads here.

I notice also that Maskrider has updated some scenery packages (Dutch east Indies, Gilbert islands, Formosa) in 2019 (Uploaded at SOH). There's no conflicts with campaigns or other stuff if I install the lastest versions of Maskraiders available stuff?

I’m on an all-day road trip to New Hampshire and Maine to explore the foliage, and won’t be back until at least dinner time.

Hopefully Maskrider or others will answer before I get home. :victorious:
