Scenery issues & airbase install instructions

SOH-CM-2025
I am reinstalling my scenery for my MTO and remembered there was a corrected file in Dem 8. I don't remember if my Dem 8 file has the corrected file or not. Where can I find it to be sure the mesh is correct?

OK got it up.

Rami should I be deleting some file lists after some of these various installs? I am a bit confused about when and where to do that.

Thanks

Highpockets,

Any time you add or subtract scenery .bgl files from a folder, you should always delete the filelist.dat and let it regenerate.

Don't think I have done that! :kilroy:
That may be part of my problem with the "squarey things" in my Malta scenery. I'll keep you posted.
Thanks for your patience:applause:

In reviewing my scenery.cfg as I reinstall my MTO scenery, is there a significance as to the sequence as shows here rather than the one in Rami's install guide?
Also note that the "required=" is FALSE rather than TRUE as Rami's guide notes. My DEM 8, Global_Exclude, and cfs2_eurw_LC_su_BETA4 all show "FALSE". ??
They have been added via the scenery library and activated one at a time.

MY SCENERY.CFG

[Area.012]
Title=DEM 7 mesh
Local=SCENEDB\DEM 7 mesh
Remote=
Active=TRUE
Required=FALSE
Layer=12

RAMI'S SCENERY.CFG(from his install guide)

[Area.012]
Title=DEM mesh
Local=SCENEDB\ DEM mesh
Active=TRUE
Layer=12
Required=TRUE
Remote=

Highpockets,

The DEM mesh should be in order from lowest LOD to highest. (Five, seven, and eight) As long as the section in the scenery.cfg says "ACTIVE=TRUE," you should be all set. However, I still recommend that you follow the guide and place the LOD 5 mesh in the SCENEDB\WORLD folder, it makes things simpler that way.

I have done that. I was concerned that several files in the scenery.cfg did not show"TRUE" at the "required=". I do not know what any of those items mean anyway.

My complete re-install finally got rid of the "squarey things" off the coast of Malta. :jump: I think I missed the one step last time just after the Malta_BSK_V2 install. Copying the textures from Afnor _Scenery to the main textures folder and the cfs2_eurw_LC_BETA4 folder.

Not completely sure, but it sure looks great now.

Highpockets,

You can't see this, but I'm beaming with pride. Well done, good sir! :icon29:

I know there can be no duplicate runway numbers or duplicate ID numbers. Can I eliminate the runways used in the pacific theatre from my Med theatre install and re-number? Same for European theatre, etc?

Or just leave all of them and begin the numbering sequence with the last entry in the airbase.dat file?

HP

If I understand you correctly you just want to have a seperate Airbase.dat for each theater. If that is correct and you have seperate installs for each theater , YES you can. I have my AO's broken down by theater (PTO,ETO,Korea,etc) and a seperate airbase.dat for each .
The hard part is reading through each DAT and knowing which field belongs to what AO. Then just add and resequence.

Yes, I have separate installs for each theater. Thanks for the input. I always do a backup first anyway before I make any changes.:salute:

Highpockets,

If you download one of my ETO / MTO campaigns from the Warbirds library or from my site, you'll notice that I provide an ETO or MTO "Master" airbase.dat that includes all of the airfields for that particular theatre. You'll also notice that the original Pacific airfield entries have been removed.

I am so looking forward to your visit here! I have had to reinstall most of my CFS2 installs, but with my surgery and lack of abilities to do CFS2, I sit with several installs of the basic program and no additional work on scenery, aircraft and missions-campaigns, because I cannot yet use the joystick to test things out.
