I'm looking for some old world war II hangers that I can use in either Runway12 or Airport Design Editor. Somewhere on my crashed harddrive I have them but, I don't know how to retreive anything from it nor do I want to pay someone $100.00 to do it for me. (That's what I was quoted by a couple computer shops.)

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Here's a screen shot of the only scenery I was able to retreive. It was on my other CPU that crashed last week.

You've got quite a choice, look on the main download sites for objects by Ted Andrews or Sidney Schwartz, between them, they've got all shapes and size's cover'd.
cheers ian

Thanks Ian. I'm off to flightsim to see what I can find. Well I found them. BUT....I'm running into a brick wall trying to get them to show up in my Runway12 program. I've had the very same problem with other Runway12 libraries. I follow the instruction exactly, then when I open RW12, I get the same libraries that came with the program. NO additional libraries. Any idea what I'm doing wrong.

There's a ton of library objects by Sidney Swartz over on flightsim.com. And I mean TONS. And they are set up for use in a variety of scenery creation programs....including Runway12.

Thanks OBIO...I downloaded some of his while I was downloading.:salute: Same problem with Runway12, though, I can't get them added to the library. The good news, however, is that his packages also include everything needed for Airport Design Editor. I got Sidney's added to that program. Heck! I've already customized an airport over in Alabama that I used to fly my Ercoupe out of. I even remembered how to set the airport elevation just a small fraction above the stock elevation to get rid of runway blurries...Life's Good!

I'm really enjoying getting back into Flight Sim and hanging around here at the Outhouse. Everyone's been really nice to me and to all who see this thread, thanks.
Now I'm fixing to customize a few more airports...LOL. Man! Retirement is great!:icon_lol:

I took a look through the FS2004 scenery objects library at Flightsim.com and found a couple packages by Ted Andrews that has RAF airport building from the 1930s through the 1950s. I'm sure some of that could be used for WW2 US air fields. Make sure to grab the Vintage Hangars package by Sid Schwartz...lots of nice old hangars of the size and shape used at the US training fields.

Thanks again OBIO. I just used Sid's Vintage Hangars package to customize another aiport. One of the hangers looks almost like the one in reality. I placed two of them side by side to get the desired effect. I really like the Airport Design Program. I think I'll just concentrate on learning all that can be done with it. I actually used both programs (RW12 and AD) to do the airport I just finished, however. RW12 has some T-Hangers in the original package that I needed.

if push comes to shove Romeo-Delta, i've got the Ministry of Defence documentation on the T2 type hangars (All varieties... theres a lot more diversity than you think :icon_lol: ) and can as i say as a last resort fire up 3DS Max and crank one out... that'll take me a day or two but as i said... if push comes to shove....

Mike Whiskey, I've sent you a P.M.

she's fully ready and mapped.... just gonna whizz together some base textures.... Blue is the Door map, Salmon is the Roof Map and the rest is the side maps, oh and she's fully 3D.... roof has overhangs, doors stick out slightly etc... oh and did i mention it's only a gnats ass over 200 polys? nice and Frame Friendly :icon_lol:

Looking Good:salute:

thanks Jagd, to compare this to Parachuting this is just riding up to height for a HAHO, the jump will be getting it into sim and the long 'flight' will see it in use...

still working on the textures, just about to move onto the doors themselves.... :icon_lol:, i've got kinda an affinity for detail even have a hut i use in my backwoods areas for my bushplanes.... seen here....View attachment 54000

as you can see the windows, doorfame etc... are all actually 'off' the model and modelled in then textures are baked for depth, the Hangar in the Background is a T2 type but one of Ted Andrews', all well and good but as there was only 1 at RAF Nuneaton this model for Romeo-Delta will work as a nice focus point, along with the RAF Ensign flying from a pole....

anyways, i digress, here's the latest....

Looking good Matt...Looks like I'm going to have to start signing my posts as: "Romeo-Delta." I kinda like that.:kilroy:

Romeo-Delta

just about to test it in sim..... if this works, i've then got to figure how to add it to RWY12 (as i use Instant Scenery + Sbuilder + ADE) for object placing..... :icon_lol:

Matt, Wait....I am using ADE. Just package it for ADE. I gave up on trying to add anything to RWY12.

Thanks,

Romeo-Delta

^Seen there at my WIP RAF Nuneaton

and here is the file for the T2 i made, complete with base PSD's for recolouring, T2 is as a library format so will be placeable with most scenery design tools (instant scenery), can't remember off top of my head if ADE reads .MDL sources or .bgl, but as i say it should work, give me a shout if you can't figure it...

http://www.mediafire.com/?c49idj03jkm48r9

whoops forgot the base PSD's!..... or did i? bloody hell why do i never remember only 10mins after doing it!

EDIT: Panic over! Base PSD's are in there as is a batch tool to convert textures to either DXT3 or 32-bit dependant on System :salute:
