Scenery Question

I have built Matsuyama Airbase at Taipei, (Taiwan), Formosa for the BPF campaign.

My question has to do with lack of cities and towns on Formosa in the stock scenery.

Is it possible to add some of the stock cities and towns from Europe to the locations of cities and towns on Formosa circa 1945?
I don't need GSL buildings sticking up.
The flat ground texture for cities and towns will work.

Can I take FS2000 Taiwan and add it in?
Can I use Flight Sim Scenery Creator to make cities and towns?

I realize the Island of Formosa in 1945 was not what it is today, but come on!
It had to have more developed cities and towns than MS CFS2 gave it.

Can I use Flight Sim Scenery Creator to make cities and towns? Yes

I am a bit wrapped up right now, But I would do a Fs2002 ( not FS2000 ) search for
any scenery in that area, I will take a look ...time permitting.

Which is exactly nada. Out of the box cfs2 came with nothing more than what was needed to fly the missions included with the game. Outside of those boundaries the mesh became practically none existent and there were no scenery objects anywhere- except for a couple of scattered remnants where it looked like maybe they were thinking of doing something and decided against it. One such place was just west of Espiritu Santo airfield. Another was on the islands of Kosrae.

My first attempt at scenery other than airfields.

On the right of the screen you can see Matsuyama airfield.

I have a lot of tweaking to do and I did not load Matsuyama layout file with all the buildings and airfield defenses.

There is also some crap south of Port Moresby. Looks like more of mistake than any thing...

Okay,
The textures around Taipei Formosa are not even close to accurate.

Is there a way to correct the rivers so that the land mass is correct?

Hello Dev Dog,

Not sure what you are using for your scenery ( and Yes , I agree Mask Rider is the top of the game)

Dave,
Stock scenery with Richard's mesh.

The rivers on Formosa are "toast". They exist in approx. locations, but are WAY wider and less curvy than real rivers which makes it difficult to put Taipei and Matsuyama airbase in the right spots.

Thanks for the downloads. I will give them a try, though creating accurate, OR, semi-accurate scenery is taking up mission building time and energies.

Next question: How do I make a rail yard?
Both Kiirun and Taipei had rail yards the BPF laid waste to.

DD,

Welcome to my world. I started out making scenery and missions for WWI. Which lead me to doing missions for Korea. which lead me back to scenery for WWI. Which has now gotten me into doing scenery for Vietnam. All because I wanted to learn more. LOL When you get it nailed down let me know.

"Nailed down"????

Is that even possible with CFS2?

I have been over 2 years building BPF and am just now getting close to actually having Uncle Tgt test fly the FIRST campaign of TF57 Iceberg I.
I am revamping Iceberg Oolong right now, which led to the scenery questions and building stuff in FSSC and MB.
I still have Iceberg Redux, Iceberg II, and TF37 attack on the Japanese mainland to complete...:redfire:

The scenery building is side tracking me from bombing the Imperial Japanese forces on Formosa! One cannot bomb what ain't there.....
I just cannot fathom bombing the nothingness of CFS2 Formosa.

FORTUNATELY, ....... There are Masked Riders scurrying about these haunts giving guys like me something to destroy!!!

If you want it utterly decimated and totally destroyed, call in Uncle Sam's Misguided Children.
WE are more than happy to oblige.

Taipei 1945 is getting much closer to what it should look like.

Here is my latest rendition with Matsuyama Airfield in the foreground.

I covered up MS CFS2 erroneous Keelung River and replaced it with a more accurate view.

I will be putting bridges to bomb where the dirt roads cross the rivers.

Something a bit ODD here!

Taking a fly over to admire my Taipei 1945 scenery finished product and noticed something odd that I am not capable of fixing...:wavey:

D Dog,

Try making sure that you have the City texture placed in both the main texture folder and the Senerydb World texture folder.

Dave

I normally go ahead a place it in my Scenery texture folder also for good measure.

Thanks Dave,

But I was joking a bit with Uncle Tgt about the RN Hellcat II wing roundel.....:adoration:

As one flies closer to Taipei, the city scenery becomes very clear.
The only thing I have left to do is tweak the elevation at bit.
My textures come and go as one changes angles of view.
BUT, when they are all showing, they are outstanding, in my opinion.....
