Real. With the end of the space shuttle program, the U.S. will rely upon private industry to haul loads up to and back from the ISS. This was a trial run to see if everything worked and from what I understand, it mostly did. There was a small hiccup when the Dragon's radar locked onto the wrong part of the ISS, the result was a two hour delay in docking.
