Screen Names.

Well, Hank was already been taken by someone years ago (though in all those years never seen.....), so I simply became hae5904...hae are my initials and 5904 was the number of my house at that time.

Cheers,
Hank

Well need not say anything here... But my BF4 gaming name is N00b1nat0r, the reason being i always use shotguns and rock!

Mine is my profession. It involves a lot of tasks. When an oil company is interested in drilling in a certain area they contract me to research who owns the minerals under the land, contact the landowners, and negotiate a mineral lease.

With family ties to 8th AF B-17's I chose this 381st BG aircraft.
Although with the amount of time I've put into this hobby, the name is appropriate.

i think this is a great thread..thank you trucker, good call.

i asked Bud Anderson how the name "Old Crow" came about, when it seems most of the planes in his group are named after girlfriends or wives,he said that after his folks had moved,he reached up in a cupboard to be sure nothing was left behind,on the top shelf ,far to the back, was a bottle of Old Crow, which had been opened and a quarter or so gone...whats special about this?..his folks were hardcore "tea totalers" ,he said he got a good chuckle from his find and when it was time to name a plane...he had his name.

I came up with my username back in 2008 when I first started registering on various flight simulation forums.

I've always been a fan of the Hughes/MD 500 line of helicopters. The "flyer" part because I flew them in the sim at the time, and I liked the number 4. I don't use the dash when I create new accounts on other sides anymore, however.

Big fan of the F-14 and had then VF-103 (now VFA-103) in our air wing on both my USN cruises. VF-84 had just decomm'd and -103 picked up the "Jolly Roger" tradition, including the tactical callsign of "VICTORY". I've since moved on to the "green" side (Army) but kept the screen name despite the Turkey being long gone from US service.

Like some other chaps that have already posted,....giving my first and last name as my forum name worked fine. Guess it falls into the K.I.S.S. category.

I always wondered how my parents came up with name, Curtis, but now I know...it goes with one of my favorite fighters.

I was always called lim by my buddy on road trips we take every year ( he saw a resturaunt sign in Redding California with this name and applied to me). I thought my buddy kind of looked like Jack Nickelson the celebrity in the early years. Now the tricky part, tried to create a screen name using lim and it was already being used so added jack to it. bingo!

:biggrin-new:

During my years as a middle aged adult I owned several small aircraft (a Chief and a Citabria), but I never found them to be much like the aircraft Uncle Sam let me fly when I young (bring on the Eric Burdon and the Animals...check this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ur30bn_3G58). So, I ordered a kit from Van's Aircraft (founded by the very talented Richard VanGrunsven). The serial number of my kit was 80017 (one of the earliest RV-8s). After several years it became operational as N817J. My icon is the Vertigo Studios version of N817J. If anyone is ever in the vicinity of KLVN I'd be pleased to give you a tour. Best regards to all.

Because, well basically used to do a lot of T-6 flying in the 80s and 90s......and plan to do some more this year!

Mine is also my "nom de guerre," so to speak, from my twenty plus years on the road as a long haul trucker. These names, are bestowed on the new guys by the senior drivers after they observe the FNG for a while. Being given your "handle" is a right of passage for a trucker, as it means you have been accepted into their brotherhood. Mine was chosen for me by the most senior driver in the company. He had been driving trucks for almost forty years when I started. He told me, "We are going to call you Quicksand, because you're falling in love with these trucks, and you're sinking fast." Sadly, my friend passed away several years ago. I remember him every time I log in here...

Not very special really, it was just my radio call sign when I worked as the Head of Engineering Development section at EGOD.
