Wow! Nice to see the lotussim L-39 in MSFS. Is it working ok in the new sim?

Cheers,

Edwin
Working surprisingly well. After transposing all the aircraft.cfg and airfile data into MSFS, it flies better than the default jets. The biggest issue is several important VC clickspots don't work, like NAV radio. Seems like if clickspots are too crowded or overlapping, they don't work. Also, no GPS. One thing that is brilliant is the front wheel castering. Steering with differential braking works much better in MSFS then FSX/P3D.

For just tooling around while waiting for some good MSFS add-ons to come out, it's nice to have.

On this day in 1862, the Battle of Antietam (also known as the Battle of Sharpsburg, for the name of the nearby city) was fought during the American Civil War. I decided to do a flyover of the battlefield and surrounding area. The photo scenery in this region isn't of the highest quality, but all of the historic sites around the battlefield are easy to identify - Bloody Lane, Final Attack Trail, Roulette's Farm, Mumma's Farm and cemetery, Otto's Farm, Burnside's Bridge, and the Antietam National Cemetery, to name some.

I remember in FS9 that airport had about ninety-eleven aircraft models parked all over. It's a shame they didn't do that here.

I personally like KOSH without all of the aircraft like in FS9/FSX, as it now better represents how the airport looks the other 51 weeks of the year outside of the airshow week. I'm sure, in time, there will be an airshow addon for it.

Have you adjusted the date to that of the airshow? I was just wondering if they do have more aircraft there in that time frame?

Did an online flight just now from 1G4 to KVGT. Using the Bonanza mod everything went pretty well but my fps dropped periodically within the Las Vegas area. I took a bunch more but here's just a few starting with Lake Mead.

Sort of hard to tell but Nellis AFB is just beyond that mountain off my right wingtip

A nice flight I did from there (Vegas) last week was down the Colorado river all the way down to Yuma. It was a nice flight. Although, in my flight, I took off from Vegas, flew to Homey AFB (Groom Lake/Area 51), then up to the Tonopah Test Range airport (I didn't see any MiGs or F-117s sitting out ;) ) then flew to Lake mead, the Hoover Dam and on down the Colorado to Yuma. I think you'll enjoy it, if you haven't done so already. I was surprised by how much "civilization" is along that river.

That's fantastic, Dave! I'm curious now how much time/effort was required to get the Duxford scenery in the sim? I would love to do the same/have it in MSFS too.

It was relatively straight forward John. I created a "duxford" folder in the MSFS community folder. Inside that is a scenery folder containing "EGSU_ADEX_JY_OBJ.bgl" and "EGSU_ADEX_SL_OBJ.bgl" and the texture folder, all copied directly from my P3d install. No conversions were carried out. Then I created an exclude poly within MSFS to exclude all the default buildings, but left the runway, taxiways etc. I had to remove a couple of models from the 2 bgls that weren't needed, such as the M11 interchange and the carpark background. That's pretty much it. Needs a bit of tweaking with parking spots etc but looks pretty good to me.

Thank you Dave, I think I'll have a go at it.

I'm having a great time exploring. This sim is amazing. Double rainbow!
