Screenshots

Last screenshots I'll post of the CAS J3 Cub for a while, I promise. I just can't pull myself away from it for the time being, and I've been splitting my flying time with it between regular and VR (which is amazing). I've probably put just as many hours on this aircraft the past few days as I did all the years of owning the FSX A2A Accusim J3. These screenshots were taken while flying out around one of the most stunning airfields in Britain, Compton Abbas, which is situated atop the chalky hills of Cranborne Chase. The nearby town of Compton Abbas dates back to the days of the Saxons.

Guy Ritchie owns the airfield, it has a great cafe / restaurant there to watch planes come and go plus great scenery. Visited there last year and the rendition is pretty spot on.

Noddy, i like this screenshot very much because it miraculously resembles a real photo that's been hanging on my boys bedroom wall after i got it as a present for my (possibly) 10th birth day from my older brother. It might have been one of the first 'posters' available here in Holland and it certainly belonged to the various influences that made me a fanatic aviation hobby'ist for the rest of my life. Of course by that time i didn't know what i was looking at, just a beautiful and striking looking aircraft in between likewise beautiful and striking looking clouds as it flew high above the mountains, something we don't know anything about here in the Netherlands.

Because of the Cold War going on during that time photo's of militairy aircraft were not something one could see every day and certainly not in color with such a striking background and all. In short, to me it has always been a more then iconic photo very dear to my heart. It is probabely the cause that i particularly like training aircraft very much.

Here it is and regarding the resemblance to your fantastic screenshot above, tell me that i'm wrong... :

Isn't it amazing that we can relive this more then 60 years old striking real world scene here in our own virtual flying world...

The only thing missing is the actual Lockheed T2V but i'm working on it... ;-)

Thanks again Noddy for this trip to memory lane !

Btw, a few years ago i managed to buy this very 'poster' off eBay. :biggrin-new:
