Great pics as usual, John. I love those of Victoria falls in particular.

Great new system as well. I was always an Intel tekkie, but Doug, one of the Orbx developers blindly convinced me to go Ryzen chip this time round. I'm currently simless, 'patiently' waiting for November. From what I've seen so far, I am quite impressed with Ryzen as well and it definitely runs at very good temps. The real test will come soon enough.

Thank you MZee. I've heard a lot of good things about the latest Ryzen chips, and if I had perhaps done a little better research before committing, I may have very well gone with Ryzen instead of Intel (stuck in my ways I guess). I am curious to see how long the 14900 will last me, and how MSFS 2024 will perform with this setup. With all of the warnings about 13900 and 14900 chips wearing out prematurely, I made sure one of the first things I did was set the BIOS to factory Intel recommendations for wattage - the motherboard had everything overclocked out-of-the-box, set to the razor's edge of performance, including the memory as well. With everything configured to the stock limits/no overclocking, it's still performing just as good as I thought/hoped it would. I was flying over Oshkosh and Appleton, WI, today with the Tukan Ford Trimotor, and the FPS at 4K were usually always above 110, with the CPU temp around 62C (not seen higher than 64C so-far).

Having been so absorbed with the CAS Piper J3 and Taog Huey, my equally-admired FlyingIron '109 has been hangared for at least a few months now. I decided to pull it out of hibernation this morning and take a couple flights from Duxford to Old Warden and back to Dux. I put a lot of hours on this aircraft last summer, and it feels right at home to be at the controls again.

I wonder if ACM John Allison has the 109 in his SIM ! I think he's 80 odd years old now.

Thank you, Priller. I hate to hear your PC is out of commission and I hope it's back up and running well again soon! I've seen so many cautionary YouTube videos over the past couple weeks that I haven't been able to be fully relaxed yet using my PC - I keep regularly checking of all of the temperatures almost expecting something to go awry, but so-far so good (knock on wood, and all fingers, toes and limbs crossed).
Found out what the problem is: airflow. Changing the fans tomorrow to put it straight. After removing the covers on the side, the CPU doesn't get any hotter than 65°C, which is ok and we've identified the fans that have been mounted in the wrong way. So eight screws and I'll be good to go again.

If that doesn't help, I'll change one of the side covers with a mesh one to improve the airflow even more, but I don't think I'll have to do that.

The technicians who assembled the rig are really really good, but under a lot of pressure and so minor mistakes like this happen. When I see how they did the cable management in my rig, I'm impressed.

Cheers,

Priller
