Does anybody know if the payware ALPHA/Virtavia Sea Vixen is still available or does anyone know of a decent freeware\payware model about?

If you don't see it on SimMarket, I would send them an e-mail and ask. They are pretty good at responding.

BTW, I think you can still get the Skysim Sea Vixen for FS9. I have both and prefer the Skysim version.

I thought the Alphasim Sea Vixen went freeware an eternity ago, unless there was a later version that I missed - there is definitely a Sea Vixen up on their freeware page, but it was for FS2002 and I believe has issues in later FS versions, but worth checking out if it is for the Yeovilton project.

The Skysim version is very, very nice - a lovely model from the inimitable Brian Franklin - and can be highly recommended.

I'll take a look Andy thanks! yeah the CFS2/FS02 Alphasim freeware model loses its canopy in the Port over to fs9, which is a shame because the model itself is fine as far as I'm concerned. I believe that Alphasim made another one for fs2004 but as far as i can tell it hasn't gone freeware yet

There's also a quite nice (though now old) FS2002/F2004 version over at Flightsim.com
svixen2.zip by Ian Willis I think?

Hey it's free, so worth a try :)

Kind regards

John

Hooky, have you talked to the guys over at Britsim, as they use the old Alphasim Sea Vixen in their Llanbedr package - I've not yet loaded it (it's in my "urgent pending" folder) so can't tell whether they've modded it in anyway, but it may be worth a look.

I haven't spoken to them however I do have the pack installed it is the old cfs2 ALPHASIM jobbie and as far as i can tell it hasn't been modded in any way the canopy shows up (Open ) when the engines are off but disappears when they are started. I could be wrong I havent had a look in a while but thanks for the tip Andy you've all been very helpful as always

Thanks

Vested interest Hooky, I think we're all rather looking forward to retro-Yeovilton; I have 2 FS9 installs into which this will fit rather nicely. :jump:

Shouldn't be long to wait now mate Ian's placing a few more objects for me but he had to reinstall FS9 last week due to an rather severe software issue As soon as he is back up and running we'll be back in business. Coincidently you may get more than you bargained for (in a good way). Ian suggested last week a retro RNAS megapack, consisting of Yeovilton, Culdrose, Portland. Merryfield, and Predannack. may take a little longer but I'm hoping it will be worth the extra wait!

Kindest regards,

Hooky
