OK, i am about to re install FSX so i can add Accelleration... and i am thinking of getting some scenery improvments.....the Megasceneries for California which are quite large and detailed.... and the VFR Generation X series for the UK, which are also huge and very detailed, the geo for Yosemite looks nice...and i have added UT for both USA and Europe....
the VFR sceneris are as i understand it mostly 2D photo overlays, does anyone know if they add 3D buildings in the correct locations.... or if they somehow tell the autogen where to put the generated structures? i am assuming they do... but i have had some bad luck with some older photorealsitc add ons, they look nice in theory, like one for my small town in colorado, for Pagosa Springs, but it looks strange with just the 2D photorealistic buildings but they are totally flat
just wondered a bit how this works....
also i have an external back up drive i just added and it has tons of space, as compared to my main system which currently is running both FS9 and FSX and is a bit crowded lol. is it possible to say put the texture folder or the Scenery Add on folder in a seperate drive fromm the main install? i am thinking not.... but just was curious about trying to move things around a bit.
Also i am thinking and trying to understand how adding these major add ons affects FPS, will it drastically affect the speed the sim runs, to add the high def sceneries? i was curious about that impact too as i have a mid range system with an older vid card, FX 7600, but i do have 3 GB of RAM now so i am doing ok with my install now, tho i expect Acelleration will help. thanks for any input on this. much appreciated.
