Sending up a red signal flare: Missing library obj's and some wierd scenery.

I've got two issues that I just can't figure out so once again I yeild to the pros.

First issue: I'm running two campaigns, 9thFS and Marianas. I get so far into the campaigns and I'll get the message missing object AmAmb in the 9thFS caimpaign and missing br_radar in the Marianas caimpaign. Missing them causes the campaign to stop. I believe these are CFS1 objects but I can't seem to find them anywhere to reinstall them.

Second issue: Scenery at Darwin, Tacloban, and Saipan. Anytime I fly around Darwin, the town turns into a huge neon chartruse green postage stamp with a runway in it. When I am flying out of Tacloban, of to the northwest of the runway I get the same thing except the instead of green, the big square is black. When I fly into Saipan, the airfield itself is fine, (Thank you MaskRider) but the surrounding shoreline is flat and square. (and bullets don't hit anything but that's another issue down the line) I've tried reinstalling different scenery and such but to no avail.

So this is the part where you guys come in. Any ideas/hints/suggestions?

Hi DH,

The AmAmb is the CFS1 American ambulance. The model is in the stock inf.bgl, but if you don't have the .dp file for it in your OBJECTS_DP folder, it woun't load. A tecture for it should also be in your TEXTURES folder or it will be a gray shape. Try the attached files and see if it fixes it.

I'm not sure what the br_radar is from. It may be the CFS1 British Radar Tower. If so, same thing and the .dp for itView attachment 39146 is attached.

The black square at Tacloban - if it off to the side of the field - was a mistake on my part, but the currently available campaign download fixes that. The lack of a texture for the airfields is what is causing the problem (most likely) with the wierd colors at Darwin, so check to make sure that the texture folder for each airfield has the bmp for that airfield in it.

Glad to hear you're flying the 9th campaign. :applause:

CFS1 OBJECTS

Br_radar is indeed a CFS1 object. A reference to the objects origins can be found in the Description.dat file in the Info folder.

Thanks for the quick reply. (And yes, by the way, it is a GREAT campaign) I had the the two DP's but not the a_alance.bmp so we'll see where that goes when I get back to that point. (I pitched the campaigns and started over  ) Like Fibber said, the br_radar is a CFS1 British radar tower, I just can't find it.

I did try the updated 9thFS but same results. I'm guessin the more I try to "fix" this the more I am going to bugger it up :icon_lol: . Oh well, it keeps me off the streets. Thanks again for the assist.

Br_radar

Look to see if you have someething for it in your Info folder and also in the Objects_dp folder. That is where I found mine. If not there holler and maybe we can send it. I do remember a file with CFS1_library objects.jpg somewhere in the library awhile ago.

I did a full search in the entire CFS2 directory and there's only a .jpg in the INFO folder and a .dp in OBJECTS_DP mentioned for br_radar. It is listed in mdlnames.txt as "Br_radar"=*British Radar Tower in the main CFS2 folder and # Br_radar Steel girder radar tower (CFS1 object). CFS1 objects have less detail and simpler damage effects than CFS2 objects. in the INFO folder descrip.dat file. Other than those, I find no other reference to it.

I broke the code. Well, at least part of it.

Well, I broke the code on the missing CFS1 objects at least. I took a peek at the scenery.config file and the area that contained the CFS1 library was pointing it to the default Microsoft CFS2 directory which is not where my CFS2 is installed. I changed it to point to the correct directory and Viola! no more missing library object errors. Now if I could only get rid of those pesky square postage stamps calling themselves airfields...

"The AmAmb is the CFS1 American ambulance. The model is in the stock inf.bgl"

The model is NOT in the stock inf.bgl"

It is in the SCENEDB\ library\ scenery_cfs_library.bgl

That's correct - the stock CFS1 bgl - I should have been specific.

The Darwin pic shows the airfield and buildings so the .bgl is working but the .bmp ground texture is either missing or is corrupted. Put the attached .bmp into the texture folder of your MaskRider Australia folder - it should have auto loaded in your ADDONS folder but you may have it somewhere else.

The Tacloban pics show the error I made by including two .bgl's named Taclobanwater.bgl and Taclobanwater_exc1.bgl in the first posted download. This was an attempt to fix a CFS2 road that runs across the water, but I could not get it working properly. It was not supposed to be included in the download. Go into your 9th FS Fields folder which should have loaded into your ADDONS folder, find these two .bgl's in the scenery folder and delete them. There is no matching texture.

Please let me know if these fix the problem?

Success!! I got rid of the two .bgl's and my little black postage stamp went away! I searched to directories and only found one darwinwa.bmp so I put the attached .bmp in the folder and over-wrote the file. No dice. Darwin was still showing chartruse green. So taking your logic of a bad .bgl, I did a search for any and all .bgl's with darwin in the name and found seven of them in the scenery folder with a name of "rolfDarwin_xx.bgl". I changed their names to deactivate them and Ta Da! Darwin is back to normal. Thank you very much for helping me out and pointing me in the right direction for a solution.

Semper Fi!

Ditto........

Same as DvlHownd . I continue to be amazed by all the great help and advice available for CFS2 devotees, here at SOH. Thanks CK! And now on to my third tour.
