Jagdflieger

Jr. Admin
Today is the anniversary of the first day of WW II in Europe. German forces invaded Poland in the early morning hours in what was the first "Blitzkrieg" of the modern era. Russian forces soon invaded Poland from the east. Poland was soon defeated between Hitler and Stalin, two of the worst tyrants in modern history.

70 years ago today.

Jagd ... isn't it amazing how terribly long ago that seems ... and yet it was just back there, around the corner of history. Let's everyone hope and pray that we do not have to relive any of that again ... be ever vigilant!:kilroy:

God bless the people of Poland for their bravery and sacrifice during those dark times. And hats off to their military for their brave defense. :medals:
I've always enjoyed the scene in the movie "Battle of Britain" when the Polish squadron attacks the Luftwaffe bombers. No radio discipline but aggressive as hell. :d

In official History thats when World war two started but in reallity you can make a case that it really started in China July 1937 when you already had all that tention in Europe and the SCW was already going on. The stage was on on who was going to lead the World. The facist and cummunism and their totalitarian forces or Democracy with its individual liberties!

The more I learn about World war two the more horrified and facinating it becomes to me.Lets hope and pray it never repeated itself again so helps us God.

70 years ago....a lifetime ago.

I was raised on WWII stories and my parents endured the bombings and the Nazi occupation of Northern Italy.

Sadly, the new generations hardly know or care what happened back then and how important it was for today's free world well being defeating Hitler and Mussolini then, while WWII vets are slowly fading away...

I am joining Bill Kestell's prayers "that we do not have to relive any of that again".
