Setting target in MB

I am trying to do a simple takeoff go to a couple of turns, and bomb something like a railyard.

Got the great new b24 from Nachtpiloten, loaded it with 12 500# bombs and tried to identify a target to bomb and set a waypoint to attack w/bombs. Mission directive is strike.

Boy, am i missing something! I can set a railyard as a goal to be destroyed, but for the life of me i cannot figure out how to get it to show as a triangle on the map nor can i set a waypoint to attack/w bombs.

I feel a bit dense since i saw a couple of posts on this very subject in which the poster discovered what the problem was within minutes, but didn't say what it was.
I have had no such epiphany and really need a whack on the head to make me see what is obviously apparent to others.

Thanx in advance

Hi,

Great thing to see that you are willing to make missions too.

There is a manual that comes with mission builder. I'am not sure if it's in the same location as the MB or that it's a seperate download. But it does exists!

The manual explains all you have to know and more. I found it simple to read and understand.. The manual gives an exemple that you can build too to practice.

It helped me forward very fast!

After that, there are the fancy tricks to be told, but first get the basics!.

Good luck and join in

What a difference a day makes.....

Today I stumbled onto what was missing. The attack point cannot be the last-defined waypoint. I.e., when building I guess it's better to plan the whole route first then define the attack point.

Nowhere in the "documentation" that comes with the MB sdk does it mention little things like that. In fact, it's kinda reminiscent of auto repair manuals of the 60's and early 70's on engine rebuilding.
The first instruction was, "Remove engine." That was it. lol

This is the place for the "fill in the blanks" answers from all you guys (HH, LedZepplin, et al) who make the missions the rest of us love to fly.

But the epiphany came, and onward! Who knows, I may someday do a mission I'd like others to see.

I consider mission building an art form rather than a science. I learned a lot by downloading other peoples missions and viewing them in mission builder. Keep at it and you'll often stumble across something new.

It seems I have to create at least one new mission a day to keep our Squadron's interest up flying every day in multiplayer MAW and ETO.

Yep. That's what makes Microsoft so loveable; Their software is like an onion -- you have to keep peeling back layers to get at its workings.

Thanks for the encouragement; I'll keep plugging.

5 Points

To that end Kelly,

I usually do a basic 5 waypoints for Bombers, to allow for escort Attach, Point, and Detach.

Dont forget to adjust altitudes appropriately :

1) Take Off

2) Turn (This is also Escort Attach Point)

3) Attack Target Using Bombs (Escort Point)

4) Turn (This is for Escort Detach Point)

5) Land at Base

Thanks for the input one and all.

I'm off to do some more onion peeling and see what else I can discover.

There is way more to this mission building stuff than the "documentation" apparently even suspects!

Good.

Yes, mission building is a hassle sometimes, and I am still learning, and I have been building missions since the frist CFS came out a lifetime ago..
And often I mess up..just ask any of the testers who are so very kind to help me..
But no matter what keep at it..It is worth it in the long run..

And anyone willing to try gets a Salute from Me..:salute:
