Charlie Brown christmas and all the classics. Mom was an opera singer and when she passed away I made sure I preserved all her LPs with the King's College Choir, The Elizabethan Singers, Festival of Carols, etc. I don't even know if these are available anymore.

While it would be very difficult for me to name any one Christmas song as my "favorite," the one that I might point to as among the best is likely one of the least known, Boney's "Mary's Boy Child". The reggae beat is an interesting twist:

Not only do I enjoy Christmas songs, I need them to get me through this time of year when I'm feeling down. My mother, father and all the grandparents once in physical form have all passed. For me, I suffer from depression seasonally as my mind rethinks cherished moments of being together. For years I have been taking drugs. Those drugs are tears, smiles, hugs and hand shakes from the elderly that have been in old folks homes, rest havens and retirement villas. Some almost forgotten. It's sad.

I have been going to the places I mention since I was a young boy of 14. I was considered a grandson to many special people. I, they, and we shared many stories, memories and dreams. I was all ears back then. And even now. The important thing, we talked ...and listened. Most importantly, we laughed.

The topic here is Christmas songs. Heart warming. Cheery. Joyous and relaxing.
....I not only listen. I sing very heartfelt in a group. Walking through neighborhoods. Caroling so to speak. We all get great satisfaction by doing so. A thermos of peppermint schnapps mixed with hot cocoa to keep the boiler warm. We also go to all the rest homes locally...to bring back some smiles and hopefully many loving memories of times past for them too.

There's a lot more to the story. But I thought I would share my much needed healing remedy :)

This is a GREAT topic Cloud9gal. Thanks

Thanks for sharing your story, OleBoy!

Hannah and I got to out local Nursing Home
(Orphanage/Homeless ~ depends on our schedule)
in our local area every Christmas/Thanksgiving /New Years Day!

And We play Bingo with them and sing Carols.
There are a lot of Elderly that their loved ones cannot
make it to see them on this special season,
so the least we can do is visit them
and bring flowers to cheer them up!

I enjoy listening to this Christmas Songs, while Hannah and I
are putting up our Christmas decorations!

Thanks OleBoy and Thanks everyone!

I forgot to mention this all time favorite song, of mine.

I love this song performed by Celine Dion.

Powerful lyrics:

Don't get so busy that you miss
Giving just a little kiss
To the ones you love
Don't even wait a little while
To give them a little smile
A little is enough

How many people are crying
People are dying...
How many people are asking for love

Don't save it all for Christmas Day
Find a way
To give a little love everyday
Don't save it all for Christmas Day
Find your way
Cause holidays have come and gone
But love lives on
If you give on
Love...

How could you wait another minute
A hug is warmer when you're in it
And Baby that's a fact
And saying "I love you's" always better
Seasons, reasons, they don't matter
So don't hold back
How many people in this world
So needful in this world
How many people are praying for love

Don't save it all for Christmas Day
Find a way
To give a little love everyday
Don't save it all for Christmas Day
Find your way
Cause holidays have come and gone
But love lives on
If you give on
Love...

Let all the children know
Everywhere that they go
Their whole life long
Let them know love

Don't save it all for Christmas Day
Find a way
To give a little love everyday
Don't save it all for Christmas Day
Find your way
Cause holidays have come and gone
But love lives on
If you give on
Love...
Love... <!-- end of lyrics -->

oooh......I have tickets to see the Trans Siberian Railroad in a couple of weeks.

Vince Guaraldi, absolutely!

But my favorite traditional carol has always been Carol of the Bells....here performed as a Celtic ditty. Interestingly enough, the tune itself is Ukranian, and is of mystic origin....somewhat pagan.....

I'll just stick with what I consider the classic Christmas song and I've yet to hear a bad version of it....

Silent Night
