• There seems to be an up tick in Political commentary in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site we know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religiours commentary out of the fourms.

    If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

    Please note any post refering to a politicion will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment amoung members. It is a poison to the community. We apprciate compliance with the rules.

Well that took 2 mins to find using the site search function:

I searched for "Waverley" in Resources & got this:

JX_SHB_LNER_Paddle-Steamer_WAVERLEY_(Clyde)

Thanks UT, BUT I did the search function and got nothing shown. I then did a page by page search of civil ships then RN ships and I didn't see it there either. I then did a common Google search as well. Yes, I might have spaced right by it in my haste. And I realize now that I did not use the prefix JX or the Clyde in parentheses, that might have confused the search function. So as a last resort I posted a question here in our forum.

I just put waverley (doesn't matter capital W or not) in the search bar, at the top of the page, which is the search engine for the whole site, 8 results came up, and the 4th down is the one....what could be simpler than that?!

Always start with a simple basic search in the site search function, if nothing comes up, and you think/know it should do, firstly make sure you are spelling it correctly...AND yes, as you can see you spelt it incorrectly not waverly BUT waverley....;)

I don't mean to insult you intelligence, but just a reminder for others, and maybe for the non-native english speakers.

Beautiful ship and a very nice model, thanks for reminding me....I'm off to have a 'paddle' myself.

This may be a silly question but didn't this ship participate in the Dunkirk evacuation or I am confusing it with another.
 
Wolfi; Thanks for the clarification. When I asked that question, I didn't look anything up but rather was keying on the name as I recalled it from reading about the evacuation.
 
Stoney, don't feel so bad. We may speak the same language on both side of the pond but spell the same words differently . As has been said before in history "...... it is hard to believe that we speak a common language!" :LOL:
 
I was really surprised that the “new” paddle steamer was build in 1946, I never thought that paddle steamer where build after WW2, but then I read about the old one, that was bombed in Dunkirk -and the new one was a proper replacement after the war, -maybe for a nostalgic reason. Both ships look very similar, the only real difference is the two funnels on a new ship instead of one on an old ship.
