Ship error

Not the Sliders

OK. I tried turning to the left (down) all sliders in FSX and to no avail
do the vapors go away. SO......I'm hoping there is some other way to
crack this nut. :pop4:

Hi Folks

Can those with a problem
please identify the specific models.
The specific models are actually
any and all destroyers.
The big ships i.e., carriers oilers are just ducky.
The CV6 enterprise has wake that is located on the bow end, another issue.
But the "Tin cans" all have this smoke trail.
Need a list of the specific models, (not the class of vessel).
Please include where you got them, e.g. FS-Shipyards. :icon_lol:

Are you guys using precompiled ship/flightplans ?
Or Lamont Clarke's java applet for dynamic routeing ?

But with the russian add-ons ships I dont have problems!
Not surprising,
as they apparently don't have any wakes at all. :icon_lol:

Does the issue still occur
if the fleet only contains Microsoft FSX default vessels ?

If so,
in the fsx setting dialog, Graphics tab,
click the button titled Reset Default.

Does the issue still occur ?



Please also see my post on render-stalls,
and apply the two fsx.CFG settings from there.

It may be a proble with the aircraft you're flying,
not the ships themselves,
or a combination of both.

Hi everybody,
It's an interesting problem!
First, I'm glad to see that Clemenceau's wake is OK : good girl! :bump:
It sound like an fx effect issue. Check the wake effect files used by the ships in trouble (look into each sim.cfg).
May be they're calling FS9 wake effect files.
Modify your sim.cfg to use FSX standard wakes and see what happen.

I have the problem as well, I think the offending file is

fx_wake_l.fx

this is the effect that I have, is it any different from someone who's frigates effects are working correctly or someone who knows what they are look at/for?

I'm not sure but both "ParticleAttributes" blocs have lines about "Temp" .
It's used for managing the way the smokes are moving up or not...
I would try to put these 4 lines in comment...

Will do Paul, the only way I found out which file it was was to cut and paste all the wake effects to a separate folder and then put them back in one by one, having to stop and start FSX because CTRL + ; didn't work for me.
