Ships

Really dumb question. Downloaded and installed the SS_Purth_Wreck and the two IJN_MoniAPD_Wrecks.
Can these two items be added to a GSL for a particular scenery pack or added as infrastructure in the MB for a new mission or a layout or to an existing mission or layout? Both are not real ship folders per say since they only have DP and texture and scenery folders as do most objects files and no model, panel, sound, or cfg. files like the regular ship folders. Are they to be treated as objects as opposed to ships? I think I know the answer, but I want to hear it from the experts. Thanks

They are static "infrastructure" ship objects.

As such, they won't move. They can be placed in Missions (&/or layouts), but personally I wouldn't add them to any gsl.

Ships as gsl objects suffer from 2 limitations.

- They don't defend themselves (they won't fire at attackers).

- They don't sink! (IIRC I configured the SS Pruth wreck so you could sink it - it's difficult, but with the right torpedo/skip bomb hit you can sink it - SS Pruth was used as a practice target for crews based around Port Moresby).

The Wake DD wrecks weren't there until after the Japanese invasion anyway...

Just remember, ships placed as gsl objects will not fire and with Uncle Tgt; exception cannot be sunk, and AA guns placed as gsl objects will not fire. Infrastructure yes, gsl, no.
