Short type 184

My WWI fixation continues apace - I have just uploaded the Short type 184 torpedo bomber. This aircraft figured in several important events - first launch from a flight deck, first successful aerial torpedo attack on enemy ship and only a/c at Battle of Jutland plus serving in all major war theatres.

Once more UncleTgt provides the decorations

Short type 184.zip

A new entry has been added to Add-Ons Library, category CFS 2 Aircraft - World War I

Description: First World War biplane of the RFC, RNAS and eventually the RAF. Two important first in its history - first seaplane launched from a flight deck (HMS Campania) and first a/c to sink an enemy ship with an air dropped torpedo (Gallipoli campaign). A type 184 was also the only aircraft present at the Battle of Jutland.

Served in most theatres of war up till 1918.

I'm a FS2004 visitor here & we are missing planes such as these.

Is there any chance of running this in FS2004?

Great Work

Hi Baldy and UncleTgt,

Nice work with this. :applause: :applause: :applause:

I like the screen shot with the 'carriage', very clever.

Cheers,

Stuart

Mike and John,

Great work and a very welcome addition. If WW1 was the poor relation, WW1 float planes and flying boats have been distant cousins. Many thanks for this gem! :applause: :applause:

Baldy and UncleTgt,

Very nice work on this! I love how you guys are expanding what CFS2 is capable of. :very_drunk:

Thank you! :encouragement:

About weapons, I figured out we need:
> WW1 weapon pack by Blood_Hawk23 http://www.thefreeflightsite.com/JFortin.htm
> raf_figures by Martin Wright http://www.mwgfx.co.uk/cfs2/extras.htm
> WEP_W1TORP from Stuart Green's Sopwith Cuckoo http://homepages.domicilium.com/peveril/hangar/planes/cuckoo.htm
> Wheels from your Fairey Campania http://www.sim-outhouse.com/sohforums/local_links.php?linkid=24184&catid=124

Maybe you could put links to all needed stuff in you 'readme' files, so less experienced flight-simmers can easily find them. :very_drunk:

Good point, Roxane - you're right I don't always remember that - I will try harder in future

HMS Furious

Re-visiting the late Collin Glendinning's HMS Furious (1917 version ) for take offs by the 184 - as with HMS Campania had to raise the platform in the ship.cfg to make the wheel trolley show up

Collin is sadly missed, not least for his modelling skills but his output is still available at

http://simviation.com//lair/cfs2shipyard.htm

some pics in his memory

Great shots Mike. Collin's models and his authentic colours make his ships real keepers. He was a real perfectionist. So good to see Furious having a new outing.
