Great paints but I'm burning them up.

I figured out how to start the engine and thought I was completing procedure but I am having engine fires and billowing brown to black smoke on every flight. I am leaving the fuel control lever open, carb heat on, flipping all the center console switches next to battery ( sorry I'm away from the game ) and leaning my mixture.

I get good acceleration for take-off and climb but smoke gets darker and heavier then flames cover the cowl. I tried the fire extinguisher button under the red cap but I still cooked it.

I'd appreciate any help, this is a remarkable plane. Thank you.

good flights, Cal

Ramjet,
Don't forget to open your cowl flaps and oil cooler flaps. The switches for both are at the bottom right of the center console; just below the throttle and just to the right of the trimmer lights.

Also, you carb heat should be off during takeoff. Good luck!

At Sibwings forum you will find a simplified checklist for start up.

From your given procedure I wonder why you want to lean your mixture? I read that it was very rarely used. The blue handle should be in aft position.

Also, do you remember to open oil cooler, switch is next to cowler gills. The gauge should read "Otvorene" (or something like that in Russian).
Oil tends to heat up while idling so plan your flight so that you get airborne without delay.

Edit: Sorry to repeat, a colleague was faster to answer.

It is very easy to overheat the engine when you are not careful. I highly suggest reading both the included flight manual, and the flying guide available at the bottom of the Sibwings download page to get the most out of this aircraft:

Lots of wonderful paints and talent:salute: thank you. Is anyone doing any of the Cuban Aerotaxi AN2's?

Would someone be interested in doing some Croatian repaints?
