Side-zip boots........

I've always had troubles tying my boots..........
.....front legs are pretty easy, but my back legs are kinda hard.
( I keep getting distracted and end up licking and nibbling on a few things).
So...... I see these side-zip boots on the internet........
Bates 8" side-zip Stealth that sound good for sneaking up on kitties.

Two pair arrived today.
When I finally put them on and got them laced ( after the licking and nibbling)
I unzipped ...............and nothing.
The boots were as tight as with the zipper up and I had to unlace to get them off.
Is this side-zip thing strictly aesthetic or what ???!!??? :isadizzy:

I guess it depends upon the boot. Back in the day the USAF had side zipper boots, zip up to secure them, zip down to remove them. Then there was the zipper replacement for traditional laced boots. I actually have these and at first I thought they would be great, but I found that once my foot was in the boot I sometimes had trouble getting the zipper to make the turn at my ankle.

The zipper makes it easier to get the boots off, but if you tie them too tight it's still impossible to get the boots off by just opening the zipper.

I have a pair of Bates too but I hardly ever used them; there's something in the top of the boot that folds in as I walk and that becomes very painful. Back to Magnum for me!

I have worn side zip boots for the better part of the last 8 yrs and love them. I also lace them on pretty tight (bad habit I picked up in the Marine Corps) but with side zip boots it's still a mission to get them on and off. You need to find a happy medium where they are tight enough for your comfort but loose enough that you can take them off without needing help.

The only zip up boots I had were custom made in Korea. They had laces that tied up once and you used the zipper from then on.
