Sim loading time....

I'd wait. I haven't been having any connection issues, although it was last weekend when I did my last flight. Plus, an issue on one service doesn't always mean an issue on all of them.
I'm going to wait with reinstalling until I get a couple of confirmations that the issues have been solved. Signs at work regarding Azure/Entra and O365 are not reassuring for the time being.

I'm trying to convince myself that it is a short FS sabbatical...

Last night everything was hunky dory. This morning the stupid sim decides to reinstall itself. Worst of all, I think it is installing on the "C" drive and not the "D" where it belongs. Can we get a class action suit against MS for failure to perform?

FFS, WE PAID FOR THIS ****! I've just reinstalled the base sim...

I just want to get flying again. I paid 120€ for this piece of crap. is it really too much to ask for it to work as it should and remember my effing settings?

Wait... one minute there... you actually want it to work, TOO!

I have been running into strange with this sim for a while now.

I am reinstalling it as we speak...on the correct drive. Priller, I love the way my email notifying me of your response had a different word than "effing." The other word IMO better reflects the frustration.

Wait, the sim wanting to reinstall is a common issue with the MS Store version of the sim.
The base issue is that somehow the XBox app either didn't identify you correctly, or it forgot where your sim was installed.
If you point the installer to your actual installation folder, it will recognize the files are already there and won't download a thing.

So, whenever something like that happens, if you reach the "update/install" screen where it tells you it needs to install more than 100 GB of data, do the following:
1- kill the sim
2- go to the XBox app
3- force a logoff of your user, and log on again
4- relaunch the sim
5- if it *still* wants to redownload everything, edit the install path to match the one you had chosen upon your original installation of the sim
6- the sim should find your files and proceed with the loading to the menu.

Now don't get me wrong, I fully agree the problems of the MS-Store version of MSFS regarding lost installations, erased addons and lost settings are unacceptable, and Asobo should fix that ridiculous nonsense. But in 4 years, they couldn't fix that, so I'm not too optimistic about seeing these problems solved any time soon. Same will happen with MSFS2024 I'm sure.

I've got the Steam version and had similar problems about a week ago. All the settings and tweaks were gone. So I went nuclear. The basic sim is reinstalled now, content manager comes next.

Microsoft saying that the issues have been solved is like listening to their account managers at work saying that their cloud apps are GDPR compliant.

These are good points. I have gotten into the habit of just accepting the "update". As I was clicking the GO button, my brain sorta, kinda recognized it was installing to the "C" drive and not the "D". But, my finger was fasted than my brain. I hate that X-Box app. I don't have an X-Box, I will never get an X-Box (especially now) and I don't play X-Box games.

I learned my lesson with Starfield. I purchased the MS version and now I can't use most of the mods because I can't use the SFSE script extender with the MS version.

People,

Although Micro$oft released a communication that the cloud connection problems that they were having because of the world wide issues with a security patch from CrowdStrike that the whole corporate world was having had been solved I'm not so confident about this. Anyone experiencing cloud connection issues today?

My second part of the holidays started today, I'd love to do some flying, but I'm not prepared to have to go nuclear again.

Any response would be highly appreciated, especially from Steam users.

Cheers,

Priller

MS Azure was / is indeed suffering from the Crowdstrike issue, and an so far unspecified other problem, according to german security circles. I guess it will clear up in the next few days.

I the sim does not work I'll go and do some real flying, the weather is to good to sit in front of the PC anyhow :)

Cheers,
Mark

I'm on MSFS Steam version.
Last time I used the sim was Wednesday night (French timezone) so just before the nightmare occured.
Today I first launched the MS Store app to check if there were any updates for my applications. There were none.
Then I launched the XBox app. It identified me without issues and didn't display any warning on top of page (happens when the XBox networks is dying, usually).
Just to be on the safe side, in that Xbox app, I logged out then logged in again. Login was fine, no warnings anywhere.
Then I launched Steam and triggered MSFS.
I reached the main menu without issues, which means all is fine. My addons are there, nothing lost, no interference, no consequences, nada. All OK :)
