• There seems to be an up tick in Political commentary in recent months. Those of us who are long time members of the site we know that Political and Religious content has been banned for years. Nothing has changed. Please leave all political and religiours commentary out of the fourms.

If you recently joined the forums you were not presented with this restriction in the terms of service. This was due to a conversion error when we went from vBulletin to Xenforo. We have updated our terms of service to reflect these corrections.

Please note any post refering to a politicion will be considered political even if it is intended to be humor. Our experience is these topics have a way of dividing the forums and causing deep resentment amoung members. It is a poison to the community. We apprciate compliance with the rules.

Sim-Outhouse Threat warning

I have not been able to access the website for about a week now. I'm getting a threat warning saying that Google, Mozilla, Edge, all of them say a potential threat has been detected and that it's not safe to proceed. I'm doing this from my phone on mobile Chrome. Which works. Go figure. No.idea what going on but they hard block me from accessing the site. No option to proceed. Very strange.

Who is your ISP (Spectrum, Comcast, etc.)?

Some US providers are incorrectly blocking SOH based on faulty reasoning and will not change their stance despite our best efforts to resolve the problem. We suspect that they believe SOH is a source of pirated software because we have a popular file library so therefore we must be hosting pirated files despite all of our files being uploaded with the correct permissions and more often than not by the developers/creators themselves! There are some ways around this but it involves you going into your ISP router settings and disabling 'nanny mode' so that you can access the sites YOU want to access and NOT what your ISP thinks you should be allowed to see!

A quick Google search came up with the following hits:

NOTE: These are suggestions only and SOH cannot be held responsible if you accidentally 'pork' your settings! Read, understand and read again before making any changes in your router settings!

I’m in the same boat, except it’s Spectrum… a.k.a. “Charter Communication”

I’ve not been able to get the SOH on my PC, so I’ve been using my cell phone for quite a while now.

The mrs. said that “you are not going to turn off the security!” “We’ll have all kinds of viruses!”

I’ll eventually blow and call the damn service man and tell him to fix it 🔥😡

It's not so much turning off security as turning off the over-protective nanny who is dictating what you can and can't see according to their choices not yours! If you have a firewall in your router and/or Windows firewall turned on and a reputable anti-virus application running full time you should never see a virus or if you do it will get caught and quarantined.

Just for your Mrs., I have the "Nanny Mode" turned off. It's been turned off from the first day I installed Windows 11 on my new computer. I don't run any antivirus software of any type. Though I suppose you could call Malwarebytes, antivirus, I also run Crapcleaner, and the stock Windows Defender. And I run all the updates to my O.S. as they come out. I also have been known to visit some rather risky sites, and to this day, I've never had a problem. She may be hyperventilating on your security. ;)
