We concluded the supersonic acceleration tests to refine the flight dynamics model of SIM SKUNK WORKS F104S "Starfighter" version 3.0.
These results look very good as shown in the chart, the red line is the acceleration taken from real flight data, the blue line those of our model, as you can see they are very close, the square root error is approx. 7 seconds.
Below some screen shoots of the 3D virtual cockpit under development.

Henry's screenies appear to be of the Alphasim model. The textures his? I know there were a ton of great textures released for it.

Honestly I think I'll wait for the A2A Accusim F-104. :mix-smi:

Any chances of developing an Air Refueling Probe option? (Especially for the Tactical Air Command versions).
But...as you are aware...all models from C through S have provisions for the probe (!)
Thanks!!

Hi Bob, not exactly, F-104G Map/Consortium and AERITALIA-LOCKEED F-104S models did not have air ref probe. As far i know just F-104C(Model 583-04-05) and F-104D (Model 583-04-06) were equipped with air ref probe.
cheers

Luce,

He said "have provisions for a refuelling probe", not equipped with.
Superb art by HenryW and I am too looking fwd to the release of the A2A offering.

Thanks

My English is not enough to understand deeply what "provision" stands for and which is the difference as far sim model is concerned, may be pipes, control valves, panels, etc. but no probe or whatever ?
However all G Map/Consortium and S had neither provision nor equipment for aerial refuel.
cheers

Okay, have you ever noticed the stencilled lines running from the single point refuelling receptacle to just below the main canopy transparency on the fwd fuselage right hand side? That's the "guide lines" for mounting the probe, should it ever be needed. That is "provisions for". Very true, no G/J/S/or CF ever had them mounted, to my knowledge, but they all had the option availabe.
Take a look at photo close ups of the right hand forward fuselage of aircraft carrying complete maintenance stencils and you'll see where it could be mounted. The AMI had F-104S aircraft with the markings as well.
Grey on grey in this shot but still visible:

Can somebody be kind enough to direct me to those textures?
Thanks!

Prowler

Hi! My intention was to inspire those at "Skunkworks" to make a good paintkit to their excellent upcoming starfighter so those in my example can be done. That means the correct models for the textures presented as they are mostly wrong. Also for the folks at "Skunkworls" PLEASE add the small wings on the inner fueltanks!

To Prowler:

As for the textures presented, most of them was uploaded to avsim before the terrible crasch they experienced. Several of them are lost for ever as my back up also ended in "the lake of fire and sulphur". The textures are for the Alphasim model, some can be retrieved at flightsim.com and avsim under the name of Henry William

I Just hope that someone could make those schemes presented in the pics for the upcoming "Skunkworks" f-104. I would if the weeks had more than just 7 days :-(

Please consider those schemes AND models...

Cheers and very good luck for my all time favourite aircraft!

Yes, upcoming SIM SKUNK WORKS F-104 S will have a paint kit so good painters can provide other liveries to the community.
However F-104S has some evident differences from G model: two more fences under fuselage to lower CP at high supersonic speed, different nozzles scheme, two more under wing pylons and other minor differences, however we plan to release also a MAP/Consortium F-104G model.
cheers
