Cees - I had to open the Xbox games program, select MSFS2020 and then run the update. IIRC, at some point in that process you will see the MSFS2020 opening screen you are familiar with.

Did you already try updating via x-box App/ MS Store? I mean: That did it for me . . .

I'm doing a complete reinstall, after reinstalling the Xbox app and the Microsoft Store app. Second time this season.......

Check the box and let it download the core update. After that, it will download the rest in the Installation Manager screen.
