SimLauncher 8.1

SOH-CM-2025
I don't know how many actually go to the extent that I have with separating aircraft into categories rather than just having everything dumped into the same folder, but I noticed that in SimLauncher, it collects "Every" aircraft installed. . .even if it isn't "active" at the time. I have separate folders for Cold War Era, Modern Military, LSA, WarBirds, Bush, Propliners, Jetliners and Experimental. Inside those is a second "Hangar" folder which houses aircraft that I'm not currently flying. SimLauncher would gather all of them so that instead of the 30 or so "Active" aircraft showing up in the selection window. . .I saw over 200.

I sent an e-mail to Maarten asking about that and it has been adjusted so that the program only searches one level deep, rather than all folders no matter how far down the directory tree they are. Well Done Maarten!!:salute::medals:

Ed, I am with you on Sim Launcher. Again, I use it exclusively for P3D and wouldn't be without it now. Maarten's dedication to this project is fantastic. I had a little issue with one of my aircraft not being recognized and sent him an email. An email came back and Sim Launcher upgraded by the end of the day. Super work!!! :icon_lol:

After a question about how I'm separating my aircraft, I did a short "How To". The images are self-explanatory I think. The exception to this, actually the only one I've found, is that some payware installs information on exactly where the model is after installation. If you simply cut and paste that airplane into a new folder, the aircraft has problems finding itself basically. I've gotten around that by locating the "installation log" (sometimes in the aircraft folder and sometimes the installer will make a separate folder in FSX, such as A2A, Lionheart and others tend to do). Anyway, you can change the location information in that install log to match the new location of your aircraft. I wouldn't say this is a constant problem, but it does come up from time to time. Most installations and any "manual installs" don't pose any problems.

FYI. Might have found a bug in the newest version.
I noticed a flight I created yesterday with SL, from Dillingham to Hilo, wasn't recorded in my Log after the flight was done.
Sorry, haven't had enough time to confirm it today, have a blizzard to get ready for tonight. :kilroy:

EDIT: I sent an email to Maarten.

Yes it is a good utility, but one issue I have is once I load up a specific flight and taylor it to current time/Wx etc, the "Fly Now" box grays out making all that prep redundant.

Hmm, that is strange, I've never come across that problem with any that I've done. Maarten is very quick to respond so you might shoot an e-mail to him and ask about it.
