Simviation's new look

Maybe I missed something but after a long dormancy Simviation has a new look and some very nice new files for all to enjoy. I know I am!

For FSX products, they seem to have mostly port-over upgrades. Their pop-ups annoy me. I used to go to the forums there, but haven't in several years because it didn't seem like it was well moderated.

Then after all the negative comments, if the site is destroyed by hackers or goes belly-up for other reasons everybody will mourn the loss of all those historic/classic files.

I hit Simviation quite often looking for aircraft and scenery and such. The "slow" downloads....ain't a big issue with me. 30k per second download speed....at that speed I can download a plane a lot faster than I can make it, so I am happy with it.

I can't recall ever going into the forums there, but then again, I don't think I have ever been in the Flightsim.com forums either. Avsim just a few times. SOH/Combatfs forums is where I hang my hat.

being stuck with slow dialup connection, i'm glad you all informed me of this slow download problem. I never would have known otherwise. you still get your downloads faster than i can.

One thing I really like about Simv's library structure is the way it is broken down into aircraft types. If I am in the mood for a helo, I can just look at helos. If I want vintage, I can look at nothing but vintage. Military, Civil Jets. I like that...being able to shop for just want I want to shop for and not having to look at stuff I don't want to see.

That's the thing- we all go to these different sites for different reasons. I used to check avsim, flightsim and simviation pretty regularly. They all have unique files and they have some of the same files presented in a different way that may be more eye catching than at the other sites.

It's *over*moderated and basically immature. Some great folks on there though.

It looks like Simviation has been jinxed by the negative comments above. I can't get into it either. As far as I am concerned, it is a great place to get older FS8, FS9, CFS2 and CFS3 aircraft, scenery, etc. It also has a bunch of good "manuals," by Grumpy and other great minds. The forums are fairly quiet, but there are some real good threads that were lost here at SOH due to hacker crashes. 30KB/sec is a good speed and if you want to go faster, just pay for it.
