Skinning the Marauder!

It's an interesting model. Reminds me of MAAM's B-25 with lumpy wheels! :biggrin-new: Low poly for an FSX model, but it's the only FSX Marauder. There are several different tail cones on the Marauder over the years.

I have had the Marauder on my list to do after the A-20 Havoc for 2 years now. I hope to get it started in the Spring to early Summer. But unless something happens, I will get to it this year.

B-26B Repaint

Fantastic work!!! I really like what you did on the repaint.

This model was done from scratch a number of years ago as a honor to my father who flew these birds in the MTO. The handheld rear turret was used on most of the bombers in theater at the time (1943) so that is what I modeled. The two gun strafing package was standard in the MTO to save weight and the realization by the brass after the first couple of missions that low level attack was not a good strategy against the Germans. The 319th and 320th changed tactics to use escorted medium altitude bombing.

I always intended to model a later version but life (work) is interfering with modeling activities.

The model was done in FSDS v3.5.1 and I still have the meshes on my computer. I am in the process of a conversion of the meshes to support X-Plane 10.42 as an experiment. That is coming along but has been somewhat difficult because of the methods available for porting.

If someone is interested in working the meshes and adding bump mapping and cleaning up issues please contact me with a private PM. I would be happy to work with you. I believe that the cockpit would use more work to make everything switchable to demonstrate a proper cockpit start up procedure. The conversion to a Bell M-6 turret in the rear (used on later models) is rather straight forward and is better documented than the handheld gun arrangement.

Stephens, you have done a fantastic job on this bird. I run X-Plane 10.42 as well as FSX, but don't really play as often. As far as I know, Energizing starters and stuff like that does not work in it, and the torque effect it uses seems to pull the opposite direction of FSX on the ground, and is very severe while in the air (Just my personal experience flying Khamsim's B-17 and B-25 in it). Still, would be great to have it for that sim. I feel the main problem with X-Plane 10 is the incredibly small amount of free add-on aircraft, especially ones with a VC! Any decision you come to, it is an amazing mod and will always be, and I for one really enjoy flying it.

Bare metal!

How about some bare metal love! I thought why not do one more and see how it looks. I need to reduce the brightness of the wing rivets, but here she is.

The old gal looks pretty good in silver. Say, if you ever need an idea for a paintscheme, a have a picture of a very rare one right here:

Never seen another picture of a three-tone Marauder, but it sure looks nice.

I believe that's an USMC JM-1 Marauder minus the turret and guns. There also some black Marauders use for recon missions.

Few shot in P3Dv3.1 with DR enabled. Defiantly need to tone down the trash! :biggrin-new:

Very impressive. Can you post the metal repaint?

Radioman123

Yep, sure will! Just need some fine tuning. One area around the left nacelle (wing fairing) attached to the wing is not mapped.

Here you can see the nacelle/wing fairing area issue. H-stab is not done, just need to make a copy of the top H-stab.

Next item will be the control surfaces since they are canvas material and need to reduce reflections.

Were the sounds tweaked or how do they sound as is?
If you have either the SOH A-26 Invader or Milton's PV-1 or PV-2, you can simply change the sound.cfg entry to make it use either one of those sounds, since they all those aircraft use the same engine.
