Looks like a neat way to sent a recon force unseen and unheard into the enemy camp.

one major problem, for long distance insertion HAHO is preferred plus if 4 of you use these boards thats 8 chutes, and you can't steer where the board will land... could land right on top of an enemy patrol a mile from your landing area and within 5 minutes every man and a rifle will be looking for you, at least with standalone chute and HAHO theres a way to guide your equipment, only other option is to abandon the board directly over your landing area, and keep orbiting, but again this increases loiter time in hostile territory, if it was me... give me the oxygen kit, and sitting on a parachute for 60mins+ if the board was more steerable in it's final descent instead of relying on a T-10 style of chute then maybe it would be more viable, reminds me of trials the SAS dis testing a box containing kit, they fell freefall with it, none of the men liked the idea so one disconnected the Automatic Chute Deployment and it crashed to earth and project was scrubbed :icon_lol:

... this thing i would gladly play with of a weekend though :salute:

Wow, now how about tying a big elastic to the helicopter , and...wait, they've already done that! :d
There's something in the drinking water down there I believe.

There was also a plan to insert special forces in "drop tanks" carried under wing on Harriers!:isadizzy::icon_lol:

That idea is as old as WW2. I think it was used by the Luftwaffe a few times or so for infiltration works.
Need to hunt down more info.

The Luftwaffe flew Harriers during WWII?! ;):icon_lol:
