Skysim Hawk - RAF Grey

paulb

Still here!
Hi

After purchasing the Skysim Hawk and downloading the repaint pack from CBFS, I decided to do a few repaints of RAF grey Hawks using the repaint package by Rick Piper. Here is the first one - XX205 of 92(R) Squadron RAF in 1994 -

Great screens, looks very good :salute: and so much better than the black paint they are wearing these days... If you need additional inspiration, this 1 TWU 234(R)Sqn 75th anniversary tail is one of my favourites:

cheers, Henk.

Hi Henk

Thanks! I have a few in mind, but will have to see how it goes!

BTW, nice picture

Cheers Paul

Thanks Noddy for your kind remarks.

I'll carry on painting a few more grey ones until I need a change, then I will package and upload them. Seven different RAF Shadow/Reserve squadrons flew grey Hawks in the TWUs, so I have a few more to go!

Here is the next one - XX289 of 63Sqn in 1991 -

Many thanks Mike :)

I haven't done any work in FS for a few years. But the excellent paint kit by Rick Piper encouraged me to produce a few repaints. He deserves much of the credit as his paint kit includes all of the panel lines and rivets. I just had to change the intensity of those, alter some of the stencils to make them appropriate for the early 1990's grey Hawks and then paint the aircraft and add the squadron insignia and serial numbers etc. Once I had finished the first one, the insignia takes the most time. Last night for example, I spent over two hours just painting a small dragon for the tail of a 79 Sqn Hawk, which I will finish today. I always use photographs to check out my repaints so, unless I miss something - which I sometimes do :frown:, they will be accurate representations.

In terms of uploads, I will upload them to flightsim.com and probably here. After todays, I have three more to do. Then I just need to add thumbnails and package them up, so they should be uploaded by next weekend.

Cheers

Paul

My pleasure Noddy :d

I am doing the schemes that I wanted, but thought that I would post them here as I went along, to see if there was any interest in my unloading them - and there does seem to be some.

Cheers

Paul

I have just finished the fourth one - XX280 of 79 Squadron as seen in 1990. The markings on the tail fin represent the dragon in the badge of RAF Brawdy (in Wales), where the aircraft was stationed.

Just an update -

I have started on the final two repaints, but I am getting seriously distracted by Tim Conrad's excellent Super Tucano and his PC-7 V2.0!

So, for anyone who is interested, I will upload the five Hawk repaints to flightsim.com this week and then finish the last two later on.

Here is the last one for now! 19 Sqn RAF. I have now finished all seven grey repaints of the TWU Hawks that I wanted to do and have uploaded them to Flightsim.com. I am moving onto a different aircraft next..........watch this space!

No problem Noddy. I just checked and six of them are up at Flightsim.com now. Oddly the first one that I sent a few days ago is not up, so I have just uploaded it again.

Paul,
sorry to say there's a little problem with your files at FlightSim - there are no screenshots available. Even clicking on the View link for some of your files, then clicking on one of the JPG files, all I get is a webpage with a little red X instead of an image. I tried a couple, but no joy on any of them. Just thought you should know,
Ro
