Released today:

I have since bought it, installed it in MSFS 2020, and flown it from Cape Girardeau, MO to KSTL...I'm pretty happy with it. I'll be happier when repaints start appearing (would like a -10 Bonanza, -10 and -30 Air West (pre-Hughes Airwest), and -10 and -30 Northeast "Yellowbirds"...but I don't see a paintkit yet). Long overdue...but loving it.

Chances of me buying it just increased significantly...
Well..I just did it again...took off from KSTL in the Ozark DC-9-10, and flew to KORD as the sun rose. Nice. Has that good "old school" feel, and seems to fly well (in 2020...haven't tried it in 2024 yet).

Hmm, well, I just bought it on Simmarket. Have not imstalled yet. I messaged Skysimulations, asking when the C-9 version would be released, because months ago, on Facebook, they said they would be releasing it as well. NC

Aaargh, why are all the DC-9s/MD-80s so expensive? Guessing they're insanely study level. Hopefully it'll go on sale sometime. (Unlike the Mad Dog.)

I mean, there is the inexpensive 717, but last time I checked CS was using Airbus fly-by-wire systems for it, which is just so wrong.

(So I kinda answered my own question... This is great for folks who want to focus on a single super-detailed plane, not throwing any shade over them doing a high-end add-on. But when it comes to flying airliners, I'm a "filthy casual" who really doesn't need the air conditioning system fully simulated.)

Skysimulations responded to me about the C-9 version, saying that it is planned for Phase 3. I then replied, saying ok.....so what is in Phase 2?

I'm trying to ascertain how these models actually look/feel in FS2020 compared to previous iterations. I remember my disappointment paying a lot for the upgrade to FSX from FS9 and the level of detail was still FS9 standard at that time but the screenshots looked way better than they actually were. I eventually bought the Coolsky DC-9 which was incredible and so far, the Skysimulations looks like a new build on par with the Coolsky. Going to wait a bit to get more opinions before jumping on this.

I watched a couple review youtube videos. Overall, I believe the impressions are favorable. Definitely nothing like the quality of, say PMDG; but did not expect it either. Somewhat overpriced, but I don't care. I have wanted a DC-9 ever since 2020 was released. I am NOT a purist by any means. For one thing, the majority of my flying is take off, fly around some, and land. Same thing with military, but I do mostly touch and goes, plus carrier ops. Does not take much to satisfy my needs. Well, here's my .02 cents. I remember being completely REALLY irritated/disappointed after buying their earlier DC-9 iterations. I don't feel that way this time. Chief is correct...it's not PMDG quality...but the quality (to me, at least...and I consider myself a bit picky) is acceptable...and it seems to scratch my itch for this classic twinjet.

P.S. Chief - I think you are going to have a TOUGH time getting the DC-9 to catch a wire on the carrier! (Strangely enough, Douglas did propose a -10 variant for COD ops back in the 60's however...)
