Slow Boat to Italy.

Decided to take the Shorts S5 Singapore for a 'cruise' from Marseille to Palermo, yesterday. Well after a couple of hours of going nowhere literally, turned around and went back to Marsseille. Basically a howling gale, low cloud and rain. Headwinds had the Singapore down to, yes, 39 knots ground speed, check out the GPS reading. Managed a very impressive 100 knots ground speed on the way back. Checking the GPS showed the flight time expand from 4.5 hours to over 10.5 hours, not enough fuel to do that. The Mediterranean winter gales lived up to their reputation. [JBK Singapore S.5, REX Weather (Real Time) ORBX Global/Vector].

Isn't it great how FSX somehow manages to make things interesting just by throwing a bit of weather into the mix?

Indeed it is Bjoern, it is one of the aspects of this game that you never tire of, the capacity to actually give you a simulation of the real world and sometimes it can be fun and very frustrating.

Tried another trip last night, again terrible weather and got bashed by thunderstorms. Time to take off some time until after Xmas.
