Slowing down after landing

There is an issue I have with some aircraft, which are very hard to slow down and stop after landing. Clearly other aircraft seem to loose speed much faster, making it much easier to complet a succesfull landing. So my question is, who knows which parameters to tweak to improve this, and where (aircraft cfg, airfile ?) ?
Cheers,
Bruno

Open your aircraft.cfg with your text editor (notepad) and add these lines anywhere:

[brakes]
parking_brake = 1 //Parking brake available
toe_brakes_scale = 0.940888698995941 //Brake scalar

If you want differential braking for better ground handling in turns, add this line to the above:

differential_braking_scale = 1.10 //Delta on the amount of brake when the rudder pedals deflected

Open your *air file with Aired and scroll down to 1101. Open it and scroll down to *Braking Strength - Max and change the value to -14800. Make sure its a negative value.

Thanks Bearcat,
but what I had in mind was more the natural slowing down, as brakes are a bit of a touchy thing with those taildraggers. ANd I am really under the impression that some plane slow down better than others WITHOUT braking ?

Brunosk,

It might be the Gear ratio in section 510 of the air file. Usually it is around 1.7 to 2.4, but ones around 1.0 do not slow down well. Gear ratio will also effect top speed and acceleration. The ratio is how fast the engine turns in relation to the prop. Engine RPM of 2500 would yield 1470 prop RPM with a ratio of 1.7. I have noticed air files with a ratio of 1.0 which results with the prop RPM too high at engine idle and hence the plane does not slow down very well.

PS. Another probable section could be the table in section 509. In fact this is probably the one to look at first. It has been a while since I worked on this problem in the air file so my memory is a bit rusty.

Natural, eh?...Cut back your prop pitch along with the throttle on touchdown. This creates a shallower angle of attack for the props, meaning they grab less air and the plane slows faster with less braking.

Shame !

OK Guys, thanks for the help, but just found out the real source of my probem : My controller setup was such that "idle" throttle was giving me in fact 40% in the game... Sure was hard to stop like that !
