Smoke

This is the Thomas Ruth 727. See the smoke? I looked in the aircraft.cfg file for effects, and noticed that other planes have a [smokesystem] section, but this 727 does not. Is this where the engine smoke effect is specified, and can I simply use an effect file from another plane to “fix” the smoke?

My guess would be that the effects were added as an "attachpoint" in the model. That would mean that it's hardwired to the effect selected by the modeler.

This happens when a texture is missing. Do your other planes that have smoke systems have the black cubes coming out?

No, all other planes with smoke have "normal" looking smoke, RAZBAM A-7, Alphasim A-3, and many others. Agree it looks like a texture issue...

Paul, there's a fix...

"FSX-SP2/ACC (probably SP-1 as well) engine smoke effects for the Thomas Ruth Boeing 727-100 and 727-200, which you must have previously installed in FSX. If your computer is like mine and displays Tom Ruth's engine smoke as opaque very black smoke or opaque black polygons spinning through the air behind the jet, this fix may be right for you.
Easy installation. By Tom Tiedman"
