Hi

Here are a few screen shots showing what I've been doing the last month.

Edited city textures, so they match johno_UK winter terrain tiles.

Edited johno_UK terrain to get more seasonal variations and modified the long distance terrain tiles - no snowy line at the horizon any longer!

Autumn

Winter - light snow

I've got permission from johno_UK to upload the files when I'm finished. :salute:

Just excellent!! It's been a long time since we had mods such as this being worked on and these are much needed too. Looking forward to getting them.

There's life in the old sim yet.

Thankyou vonOben!

Hi guys

I’m glad you like my efforts, but it wouldn’t have been possible without johno_UK and his gorgeous terrain tiles!

I have actually been thinking about a spring version also, I’ll see what I can do.

It has been fun learning how to mod a new game!

Which would be the best way to handle the seasonal changes in ETO/CFS3?

I’ve checked the WM Scenery manager, but AFAICT is it not going to work if I exchange the files because for instance when I select Autumn in WM Scenery not only the autumn files are copied to your asset folder but also some summer tiles.

I’ve used JoneSoft Generic Mod Enabler (JSGME) for the file swapping. It’s not automatic as WM Scenery manager, but it’s very flexible and easy to use.

Ideas and suggestions would be very welcome!

Well Done! Excellent progress and results. Its definitly refreshing to see some additional mods in this area.

If you think WM scenery is not going to work in the ETO add on and you choose to use JSGME, you could have a sub batch file be called when selecting the different ERAs of ETO to run the JSGME program to select the season. Let me know if you need help on the batch file.

Looking great!! I agree with rbp71854. Making a batch file would be the easiest way to go. You could add it to the ETO startup batch or make one that just switches the seasonal tiles in and out of the assests folder.

Great!! BRAVO..
:salute: :salute: :salute: :salute:

I can now do the Battle of the Bulge missions with snow..
This is Wonderful

' Thanks very Much..

Hi

Thanks for sharing your ideas!
Since the file swapping in ETO is already done with batch files that would be a good solution also for changing the seasons IMHO.

Bob,
I would be grateful if you could help with the batch file and I’ll contact you when I have all seasons done. :)

It would have been a cool if we could have an ETO Manager - something like the OFF Manager instead of using batch files. Then we could for instance have the manager using actual weather and historical accurate looking terrain for the missions flown etc.

Is there anyone in the CFS3 community that could make such program?

Cheers

Hi vonOben -

Any news on your project ?

Thanks

Hi

I haven't had time to visit the forum very often the last few months since I've been busy with the new terrain.

It will have the same seasons as WMScenery so the WMScenery Manager can be used to manage the seasonal changes:

Autumn No Snow
Autumn Snow
Spring
Summer
Winter
Winter Full
Winter Med

The actual terrain tiles are done since a few months back and what I'm currently working on is to modify all airbase textures, industrial textures, port textures etc so they will match the new terrain.
This is a big job and takes a lot of time.

When that's done I also need to make some changes to the ScenerySheet01.dds.

I have no intention to give up this task and I'll release it when I'm satisfied with it!

I’ll post some screen shot later on when time allows.

Thanks for your interest!
