Hello,
I have downloaded (thanks guys) and installed the WMScenery in (Win7 X64) Program Files (x86) . Is this OK ?
How does it "links" to CFS3?
Thanks in advance
Hi
This is from the Readme file in 4.7, but I think it's valid also for 4.6:
Install to: C:\WMScenery (this was changed in 4.7)
This is important! You have to uninstall and then reinstall!
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
1) How to Use the Manager
1.1) Create a Desktop Icon and Shortcut
The Scenery Manager can be run from Start, All Programs, WMScenery, WMScenery
Or you can create a shortcut to the desktop:
1.Navigate through Start, All Programs, WMScenery and right click the WMScenery Application and select send to desktop as shortcut.
1.2) Initialise the Scenery in the Scenery Manager itself :
Start Up the Scenery Manager - double click your desktop icon.
1.2.1) Setup the path to your \assets folder of your chosen CFS3 installation in the top right path browser window.
1.3) Select a Drive and then Press The INSTALL button top right
The drive selection is next to the text WM Scenery Drive – the path is automatically geared to \WMScenery
This will install all the required folders and files to your Assets folder of the chosen CFS3 install path in 1.2)
1.4) Setup The Campaign Pilot Folder and Weather Folder Paths
Setup the Campaign and Weather Paths:
This is done in the bottom right Path Browser window.
This Window navigates to both paths via the selection bullets namely:
Campaign Pilot Folder
and
Weather Folder
NOTE :
Again please note the campaign folder browser is used to browse to three different folders:
A) The Campaign Pilot Folder
B) The Weather Folder.
C) The Mission Set Folder (See Section 3) On How To Use The Mission Manager)
The browser differentiates between the three by means of the three selection bullets in the top left hand corner of the Campaign Folders Browser Box: "Campaign Pilot Folder" , "Weather Folder", And "Mission Set Folder"
Make sure that you have the correct one selected for the folder that you intend to browse to.
This was implemented this way simply to save screen space which would be needed if a third browser were added.
1.5) Setup your Campaign path:
Select the "Pilot Folder" option within the Bottom Right Path Browser window, and navigate the Browser path to the campaign folder and pilot folder that you wish to associate the scenery season changes with - note you can only work with one live campaign at any one time.
If you have not started this campaign yet then start up CFS3 - start your new campaign and then exit CFS3 saving your new campaign to the Autosave file as you leave CFS3.
NOTE THAT THE SCENERY MANAGER WORKS WITH ANY FILES IN THE CAMPAIGN PILOT FOLDER - YOU CAN SAVE TO ANY FILE NAME IN YOUR CAMPAIGN AND THE MANAGER WILL FIND THE LATEST.
Now in the Scenery manager navigate the browser to the Pilot's name folder within the campiagn folder for your current campaign - make sure the "Pilot Folder" option bullet is selected in the browser window. Normally this folder path typically looks like this:
C:\Documents and Settings\"User Name"\My Documents\Combat Flight Simulator 3.0\Campaigns\saved\western front\john stuart milne
1.6) Setup your Weather Path:
Select the "Weather Folder" option bullet within the Bottom Right Path Browser window and navigate the Browser to the campaign weather folder. Normally this folder path looks like this:
C:\Documents and Settings\"User Name"\Application Data\Microsoft\Combat Flight Simulator 3.0\Weather
NOTE:
Sometimes the Application Data folder is hidden - check in your explorer if you can't find it and Right click the folder and select properties - uncheck the "hidden" property - restart the Scenery Manager and navigate the path browser.
