Somethings changed

I've had some really bad experiences with Thrustmaster products in CFS2, specifically in the performance of the throttle axis. After my MS Forcefeedback stick died some years ago, i thought i would try out the cool-looking, two-piece Thrustmaster set. Gremlins just kept randomly popping up and fowling up the contoller settings and calibrations.

My bet is that if you dump that controller for CFS2, you dump the troubles as well. To test the theory, get an inexpensive refurbished controller of any other brand from your local store that trades in used computer parts and connect it for CFS2. I chose the Logitech Forcefeedback Pro as a replacement and its been happy flights ever since.

Kelti,

If I run CFS2 from the backup location on my external HD I get the same problem. If it is indeed an infection, AVG and Malewarebytes did not find it. This is why I'm more inclined to believe AVG deleted something or some file has just gone corrupt.

Bear,

I've had this joystick for almost 10 yrs and never had this kind of problem with it. Also, I have modified it to fit into my simpit. Longer stick to achieve the same stick height as a real Mustang, and I replaced a round pot with a slider pot in the throttle base to give me a sliding mixture control. But again, I have been using this setup for years without a problem. And unlike other joysticks I take it apart routinely for cleaning (pots) and lubrication. Besides, as I stated before, I disables the stick and flew by mouse with the same problem.

My next step might be to re-install CFS2 and copy all the folders containing all the scenery for the ETO from the backup. Hopefully the problem is in the general install and not the ETO add ons.

Also,

I have found out that the discrepancies in the mixture settings is almost twice as bad when flying missions as it is in Free Flight from the same airfield. Go figure????

OK, did complete re-install today. I reloaded CFS2 and tested it...everything worked correctly again. Copied my scenery and aircraft files...everything worked as well. Then I flew a mission and the problem returned but only in missions. Free flight was still corrected. Does weather play a part in this? I really don't think that the CFS2 engine takes barometric conditions or temperature into account for mixture. I changed the weather as far as conditions and temperature for the seasons in my missions but the problem wasn't there for some time after I did this.
