Somewhere to park your cranky winged kite...

Didn't quite escape.
...on Guadalcanal this time, for anyone who hasn't got enough naff sceneries on their hard drives already!

This one will be a bit tight for the Corsair, fully loaded (read that as you probably won't get it out) but the parking spots are set to 14m diameter, so are suitable for Hellcats, Corsairs, lost P-47Ds or anything else of a similar size.

Default objects only, don't ask how they built the pier (but mind the seagulls...) and one can but assume the boat has a very shallow draft! I was asked to put it there, and it does look kind of inkeeping.

As usual, comments, criticisms and downright abuse welcome. ;)

Thanks folks!

However, Cactuskid and pointy31, I wouldn't hold out too much hope of either of them getting out alive without meeting trees. I had enough problems getting a Corsair out last night in my one test attempt with the actual aircraft it was requested for (I went between the trees...)

I might try it with an FS9 P-38 later, because I've been threatening to install a demo one for weeks and not got round to it. I need to work out which gauge it is that I need to disable to get the MAAM-SIM turkey working, though, before I can try anything really silly. I have no idea what's happening on that front any more, unfortunately, because I'd really like to get that working in FSX anyway.

Please keep us posted on the turkey fix, I'd love to have it for FSX...:ernae:

Apparently, the crash with the MAAM-SIM Turkey in FSX is caused by the radios gauge - if you go through panel.cfg and remove all the radios by putting "//" at the start of the line, it works fine.

Getting her in and out? Surprisingly easy, actually! Run the engine and prop up to the red lines against the brakes, release and go - the TBM-3 I was trying flew at 90KIAS, which was about 60% of the available strip and I was over the trees and gone easily.

Now... where's that demo of the AH/JF Lightning gone?

Edit: OK. Sometimes I don't mind at all proving myself totally wrong. "Curly Six" took longer than the Turkey to actually get off the grass, but a prodigious rate of climb saw the trees slip well below the drop tanks and rocket pods. So far, the only aircraft that has had any difficulty at all getting out of here has been the one it was designed to be flown from with! Hmm! ;)

Well the edit didn't work so here's the attachment. Great fun in MP. Had some fun time exploring Guadalcanal.

Hm still nothing, might have to do with the server crash, third try hehe.

The "ICAO" code (fictional, obviously) is AGFB - AG is the Solomon Islands and FB for Forward Base.

You should get twelve parking spots and 09/27 runway to start from - the 09 departure is over the trees.

Solomon Islands is one of my favorite places to fly. Ian this is marvelous work. Really like the location and "landscaping" you did with the airfield poly to nestle it among the trees but also the road down to the sea and the ship and dock.

It is a tad tricky...have to get the buzz-saw out

Did a circuit in DCC's Lightning and thought I would strip the gear off on the tree tops landing but only managed to get the wheels spinning a bit. LOL. Good decision to make this a small, tight little airfield. Great work.
