Sonar buoy effect

Hallo friends,

for my helicopter project I search the possibility to drop and relieve a sonar buoy.
It would be interesting to have the equipment as a visual effect. I think to use it as a light effect or smoke effect.
Does some one know if this has been almost done?

Best regards

Michael

check with @Klein - his WWI Friedrichshafen FF33e efforts might prove useful to you, albeit it concerns dropping and [retrieving] a trailing wire antenna for the on-board radio-transmitter, as opposed to a sonar, but I am sure the wire antenna model can be modified to include the sonar; and all this is relevant should in fact, your interest pertains to dipping sonar (https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/c7/SH-3H_HS-15_lowers_AQS-13_sonar_1979.JPEG); if on the contrary your interests concern a sonobuoy (https://www.twz.com/wp-content/uploads/content-b/message-editor/1612480334499-torpedo.jpg?strip=all&quality=85), then while deployment is akin to a payload drop, retrieval is a non-issue, because they are generally considered expendable and not typically recovered

You mean like an actual (one time) buoy and not a dipping SONAR?
It should be possible, what color smoke do you want? :wiggle:
I already use a "Hellfire" missile effect for my attack choppers, this would make an ideal starting point.
Dropping a smoke effect straight down might cause some hassles, the missiles need a little "aiming" but you can see them on the way down.

I'm in the middle of creating an AFCAD for the old FS2K USS Stennis (about 150 miles off the coast of California) so its easier to load in FS2004.
Let me get that project finished and I'll whip something up, unless someone beats me to it. :loyal:
