'SOUND - FILE ungueltig' .....?

Hi all. Just installed an aircraft and when I went to fly it, I kept getting the above message ..... two or three times.....ending with a final parting shot when I quit the program, incurring a rather 'unfriendly' exit to desktop, not exactly a CTD, but not great either.

I tried changing the sound folder....no dice.....airfile......no joy.....looked in the .dp and .cfg files but given my level of expertise, not surprisingly, I found nothing amiss.

Has anybody else experienced this? Can anybody tell me what it is, and why, so I can avoid it in future? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

Cheers!:bump:

Alpha_1,

I'm pretty sure that this is because you need to make sure you have a gauge.dll file in your main "sound" folder. By this I mean the MAIN sound folder, the one in the "root" CFS2 folder, not the one in your aircraft folder.

This is caused by a panel guage looking for a sound and not being able to find it. It usually boils down to one of two things. Either the sound file click.wav is missing from your sound folder or the panel is trying to access the guage HGHB_BRAKE_SOUND.gau.

You could either copy some other click sound and rename it as click.wav or open the panel.cfg file and comment out the line calling for that guage:
//gauge15=HGHB_BRAKE_SOUND, 692,370,40,40

Either one should work if I recall correctly.

Rami is absolutely correct. The same thing happened to me quite awhile ago and that was the fix. If I remember correctly you should of received a "brake sound" file with the aircraft you downloaded.

Thank you....

That should fix it nicely, gentlemen. It's happened to me once or twice over the years and I never knew why. Will copy this post for future reference.

Thanks very much!

A brief update: The culprit.......
//gauge37=HGHB_BRAKE_SOUND, 95,660,39,41

This is part of the panel.cfg. file for the Beaufighter TF Mk X, called for in the Pedestal campaign. Hopefully I'm talking about the correct aircraft here. I'm a wee bit confused, as this problem should've popped up for other guys too.

Thanks again fellas....the input is appreciated!

Okay, I have flown the D0-217 night fioghter over and over and over with no problems, and just after I defragmented the HD it starts in on the Do-217.
