sound issue FSX gold edition

Greetings all, I wonder if this issue has been encountered before. I recently purchased FSX Gold edition and installed it a fairly new MSI laptop. After adding the acceleration pack I find the simulator will not run smoothly with the sound enabled, just an unflyable slide show. If I mute the sound by pressing "Q" everthing is smooth. The laptop has a realtek HD sound device, I have fiddled with the audio quality settings but none of the options seems to make any difference.
 
Audio drivers

I would check to see if the audio drivers need to be updated. You can also try letting the fsx config file make a new one by renaming the current one.
